Just want to find out what type of drumsets you like to play on. Maple, birch or mahogany? Has any played on the Fibes drumset? Do you feel it takes away from the sound of the drums?

Cheesy  Birch sounds so sweet & madd resonance for seesion, however, I like maple-shell kick drum for warmth & depth especially for a session

I like any high-end hard wood drum kit. But if I had to choose...........uhmmm..... it'd probably be maple because of the high quality close-grained wood (makes a big difference).

mahogony and falkata..THE BEST...

Now,my church has built a new life center and we just purchased a
6pc Pearl Session w/Omar Hakim snare..and might I add it's all dressed

well you got birch drums that are usually gonna be lower in tone and then mapel be higher. So as for me i kind of like mapel because i have to have my high toms but i keep my toms comming around until i have a floor tom that gives me a clean roll around the kit at a stop that is complete with a low,low floor tom. Hope that made sence to someone : )

Depends  on what your playing birch is gonna be darker and caryr more sustain, birch is a good choice set  in general  a kind of a fit all situations kit, however maple is more of a session kit,  its easier to control in the studio as far as engineering goes, it is NOT made to be a dark sounding, rich sustaining set ( although the sustain is great) its more of a balanced  kit as far as over all  sound quality, its the perfect recording kit so to speak! to sum it up examples: birch good church kit, touring, traveling, and Live recording kit, Maple, would be my choice for studio recordings, and a playing situation where a lot of power and sutain is not wide needed or prefered, this is why you see most maple based kits in a lot of jazz work because of the balance.
