Whats up LGM Brethren! That bass that I'm playing in that vid is called a ZX. It's essentialy a Z with a Bartolini pre amp & pickups, I have the very 1st one ;D.
You can see my playing it Sept. 26th (Weds) on the Today Show (NBC), and David Letterman, with Chaka Khan. The bass is absolutely INCREDIBLE!! The feel of the neck is like butter and it also has on/off knobs for mid sweep and passive/active, Peace & Blessings....

Looks nice!!  Is the body made of mahogany like the Z, or is it gonna be ash or alder?  So the mid freq is set at 2 positions?
Dig the PS410 cabs!

Missed the above dates.  Need to check back more often.

I have a MTD Z5 and I prefer it over my Fender Jazz V Deluxe. I can get every sound out of this bass, and it's the best that I have played thus far. Tried a Ken Smith and it felt like butter, but I rather that good old MTD slap sound.

I would assume that it's an import since it's bassed off the Z platform but that's just my guess.
.
I'm going to keep an eye out for these.  I wanted to get a lefty Z6 and do a bartolini pre & pup swap but maybe Mr. Tobias will make a few lefties in monthes to come.

They have a few lefties at the bottom of this page. I talked to the guys at ThePerfectBass and they said that this MTD ZX won't be out for a while. But honestly, the stock electronics on the MTD Z series are pretty good. Hopefully within the next 20 years I can make mine sound like Gouche ;D

Haha, thanks for the link.  I've been watching these for a while.  There's a thread over on talkbass.com with a little more info on the ZX's projected release date.  As for your Gouche, comment, if I'm playing as good as he is 20yrs from now (or sooner lol) then I'd better be making a living off my playing!

Be Blessed,

I hear what cha saying bro, but Andre' is going to sound the same no matter what bass he picks up,because I remember him playing with Gladys Knight in the mid to late 90's and at that time he WAS playing a Smith. I also can recall a time even before that ( I'm telling my age) he was playing a Fender, now with that being said I've long sold both of my MTD's ( 535/635) because I found out I just really like Jazz Basses
