December '07 issue of Modern Drummer
« on: October 17, 2007, 11:23:22 PM »
Ok cats.  I got my new issue of MD today in the mail.  Here are some things to look for in this issue:

This is the Max Roach tribute issue.  A well deserved tribute to a great man and drummer.  In the first paragraph, the writer says that Max was "...to jazz-and, by extention, to rock, fusion, metal, and funk-what the big bang was to the creation of the universe."  I can't disagree with that.  Anyone who is not up on the history of the instrument needs to get up on their game.  This cat was definitely a pioneer to the drumset and help make it what it is today.

Marvin McQuitty also is in this issue.  He has so nice things to say.  i was honestly kinda disappointed in the interview.  Not for what he said, but for the way the questions were asked.  It does, however give insight into the player and the person.

Spanky is pictured on page 9 in a TAMA add sitting behind a sweet lookin bubinga/birch Starclassic.  Those jokas is definitely worth a look.  They are on my list of products to demo soon....  One might just end up in my basement.

In the education section, there are articles on "How to Become Famous" and "Drumming Outside the Box," as well as reviews on the Pearl MCX series kit and the Meinl Generation X cymbals.

Get it when it hits the stands!

...I got my copy in the mail yesterday as you. LOL  I haven't cracked it open yet but will today when I get home.  I've been busy reading another book but I'll make the time to read this.  Dude, I haven't even finished readin' the November Issue yet.  That one has Carl Allen in it. :o
