Weekend Shed....October 26
« on: October 26, 2007, 11:44:25 AM »
Que said he might not be able to post one this weekend, so here goes:  let the words that I type and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord my strength and my redeemer...Amen.

Fellow bassists, I pray that your playing will be a blessing to your fellow musicians, your choir, and your congregations.  May you work together in Christian love for the glory of God to give praises to Him.  If you are traveling this weekend, may you safely arrive and safely return home again.  Bless each church, each household represented on this site.  And finally, Lord we thank You for just keeping us in Your care this week.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Now go forth and THUMP in the name of the Lord!

Thanks dhagler! I appreciate the fill in. I had jump on to try and do something quick but another Christian soldier has taken up the ranks..Praise God!

I pray that each of you have a blessed weekend and the weekend shedders keep on shedding for the Kingdom. Ain't nobody mad but satan. I will be traveling to Miami tomorrow and will return on next friday so please pray for my traveling grace and safety.....Also I will be out of the country beginning November 10th thru the 24th so someone will need to pick up the shed on those weekends....

We serve and awesome God, let's not take our gifts and talents for granted. God gave them to us to be a witness and to share His Glory and the salvation of Jesus Christ to others. Some people preach, some teach, some sing and some play instruments. We must be mindful of our musical calling and commitment.

May God's love Bless you and keep you throughtout each day...shed on...shed on.....

Thanks again dhagler...I will have my laptop with me so I will be chiming in during the week....

God Bless....

May God's Grace & Mercy smile upon you!

you know, I only had to play one night. The other bass player who plays for the male chorus and women played since it was their night so I got to have alittle break. but it will be on when I get back. We are going to be on tv (mass choir). One of the tv stations has been doing segments on gospel choirs in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area and airing them on tv each month so we have been asked to participate so we will be having extra practices for that as well as several events coming up with my group GRACE that I play for. We have another house of Blues set to do on Nov. 18th but I will have to miss that because I will be in Europe on vacation for two weeks...so you guys will have to definately pic it up for me while I am gone....do your own flavor like you do....
May God's Grace & Mercy smile upon you!

Que, you are one busy travelin' guy!  Thanks for your encouraging words and for adding to the post in your own way.  I must admit I was a little nervous because you set a high standard to follow.  But I prayed, then I typed, then I prayed a little more, then I typed a little more, and there you go.

Tomorrow's service for me is going to be very challenging.  We are not having rehearsal because the youth (who sing tomorrow) are going to the Magic City Classic in Birmingham today.  We're just supposed to do some "old" stuff but it's hard to plan when you don't know who will be in the choir stand tomorrow.  If I'm lucky I can get them to talk about it on the church van, then call the other musicians back with whatever songs we come up with.

On a non-church playing note I have a Jazz Ensemble concert next Tuesday, and I am playing 6 of the 11 pieces on the set list.  Much shedding will be done between now and then.

I feel the same way.  We are definitely a support for one another.  As for the father son duet we played a little while today after service, just mostly messing around but I don't have a drum kit at home (yet) so we take advantage of any chance he gets to play.  Our current drummer may be taking some time off so please pray that when my son's opportunity comes he will do OK.  As for my playing today at service, everything went fine.  All praise goes to God for blessing us in our playing and singing.

Funny, my pastor (who's in his 70's) does not like us to play behind him when he's preaching.  Says he doesn't need any help. ::)

some people say at certain times when theyre preaching that without the music, even just a bit, it feels like they have to preach that much harder, like overexerting themselves. but everybody has a different style.

I guess that the older pastors are more conservative.  Mine certainly is.  At one point he only wanted piano or organ on the "sermonic" hymn, but he has softened his position on that.  We've only had a drummer for about five years.  Like I said, conservative.

Thanks for you prayers for traveling Grace...I made it back safely from Miami...We were under hurricane watches for a few days and had some bad rain a few days but God showed who was in control....Thanks for keeping the shed going and sharing...sounds like you guys had a great weekend of Praise....the first thing I did when I got home was jump on the axe and play a few scales....I feel so out of sync when I don't play or practice for a week. I got to see about 4 live bands at some of the functions I attended and of course I was locked in on the bass players....for the most part they were good, I tried to learn something new or different from each one. They play jazz, funk and old school 70's and 80's..I talked to a couple of them during their breaks and shared some licks with them on some of the old school stuff which they appreciated....I definately missed the LGM family.....
