Soooohh... At my school, My music teacher allowed a small group of students, from the top choir, to form a caroling octet. We are trying to raise money to go to New York. All rehearsals are to take place outside of class, during lunch or at one of the members house. At our last rehearsal, while practicing "We wish you a Merry Christmas", my mind strayed, as it often does. I began day-deaming about a Sextet singing gospel versions of all the classical, old-fashion, almost medievil songs Freedom High's Select Singers were trained to sing. I imagined the exagerated facial exppressions that we were intsructed to retain altered to fit the urban faces and personalities of my church peers. I saw the smirk the diva sopranos made when they hit the High F in "Oh Holy night". I Heard how the alto's put extra attitude on BETHLEHAM, in our remix to "Oh Come all ye faithful". And the tenors yall!!!WOW!! Dont get me started on dem Tenors. Their energy and power was almost too much. I envisoined how the whole group rocked in unison and how we used our hands to help potray the songs' message. Our Harmonies were tight and our choreography even tighter. I saw us Wassailing in our red and green, to unfonturnate families deprived of the gospel flava their Christmases needed. No tips were necessary, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, not Santa, was payment enough... When I finally returned to my now seemingly monotonous reality, I simply chuckled to myself and smiled.
True story, lol, but i really wished i could make this a reality, rather than a fantasy. But i know that God gave me this vision for the future. Between High school, Indepent night school, two college classes, AND Church, I don't have time. Rather than being frustrated with myself for slacking off and sleeping in class for the last 3 years, I've decided to share my idea with LGM. PLease tell me what you think, and if you tried it before how did it go?? Becuase come next year, this is going to be My 1st Holiday project...
