meh...I'm hearing mixed reviews on them from some people whose opinion I trust.
I'll try one out soon but I'm in no market for another amp so it'll just be to settle my curiosity about the things.

i bought one, have no complaints....

(not that you trust my opinion, lol....just saying that I dig it)

biggest thing with it is to look past it's presets (like any product that has presets) and tweak it for yourself.

Why has no one mentioned any CRATE products? I'm starting to feel bad about my 2x12... :'(

Not so bro'.  I mentioned the Palomino Series on my list.  I've tried the V32 and it was quite nice.  Very clean with lots of gain on tap if needed.   The Powerblock is nice too, but it' only available as a head.  If you've got a nice cabinet, it would be worth a shot.

I actually have a Palomino V32......probably selling it for around 300, maybe less. It's a great little amp, I liked it much better than the Peavey Classic or the Fender Hot Rod. The clean channel was just as good and the gain channel smoked both. The reverb leaves something to be desired, but it's serviceable.

The little Valve Juniors get great reviews, but seem to beg for modding... although I've heard that the new ones being released have some of the components changed to address this. I have no personal experience with those, but they're only 5 watts...

I've read good reviews about the bigger Epi tube amps. I might have to go toy with one today...

I have the Valve Standard (15 watt, 12") and it's a decent amp for what I paid ($150) but it's not very clean. It's probably a product of cheap Chinese manufacturing and parts, though, and could stand me going through it and changing tubes and a few other components.
I'll do that when it breaks or something. Right now, it works fine for what I use it for.

I still rely on a pile of Gibson /Norlin produced LAB SERIES amplifiers that were manufactured by MOOG in the late '70s. Very musical, easy to service and they'll hang in there with any Twin Reverb I've ever owned. Still good enough for B.B. King and I'll go along with his opinion.   :)

Ty Tabor of King's X used LAB amps for years, iirc.

I'm not sure if they're still around, but if you get a chance, play through a Fender Twin. It has such a sweet unique sound.

Also the Marshall MG100DFX  is one you can look at too. It's ready for any style of playing your throw at it. Super clean to heavy distortion - very versatile.

My personal favorite, the Carvin SX200, which is another versatile amp.

Fender offers a re-issue (black face) 65' Twin Reverb in 2x12 and 1x15 formats as well as an updated decendant called the Twin-Amp sometimes refered to as the "evil Twin" (not to be confused with The Twin from the 80's...AKA 'red-knobed Twin') and then there is the Cyber-Twin which is a modeling amp.  But the Twin is definatley a classic; big clean tones with lots of power.

I might have posted this amp before, but for good reasons. This is a 20 watt class A tube amp from Guytron, a small company. It has tons of light, for dark clubs and churches. It has a built in mike that goes direct to the house, taking away the guess work usually associated with miking, etc...Check it out! Gettin me on fa sho!
