Eden, EBS, or SWR
« on: November 16, 2007, 03:57:57 PM »
Question.  I am currently in the process of purchasing 2 410 cabs and a amp powerful enough to push the two of them.  I am really torn between Eden and EBS with SWR coming in last.  Everyone swears by Eden.  I recently had an oppurtunity to go to Austin Texas to play on some Eden and I was blown away but i'm real curious to see what everyone is talking about with EBS.  Right now I have 2 eden 410xlt's and a wt800c on layaway. Is Eden the best choice or should I seriously consider EBS or SWR.  This is a big investment, I want to make the best choice possible. Let me know what you think and why.  Thank for your time.

That's one of those let your ear be the judge scenario's.  I have heard both, Eden and EBS, and like both Eden and EBS.

I'll second that.  Also, keep in mind that EBS is quite a bit more expensive than Eden.  I've yet to try an EBS rig, but some say they're worth the extra money.  Again, let your ear (and budget) be the judge.

So you came down here to Austin... did you visit Bass Emporium?

I have to agree with everyone else, you would have to be the judge of that decision. However, since I have played on both, I would say go with the Eden. I say that b/c to me the differences between EBS and Eden are so marginal I couldn't justify paying more for the EBS when i can get the same sound out of the Eden. Plus i can take the extra money that I saved and start my MTD 635 Fund ;D

I have yet to hear EBS live.  From talking to the guys at Bass Central EBS is very bright, maybe brighter than I can actually live with and love.  Eden has been recomended by everyone.  Right now I am sold on Eden but I pretty much could have whatever I want that why it is such a hard decision because I have not heard EBS or even Epifani live.  Thanks for post.  Give me more.  ;D

I'm going to have to put my $.02 in for aguilar.

1 GS410 and a db750.

The tone you get is just astounding.

Don't count out the new Hartkes. Looks like they're stepping up their game.

Do you really think every think they weren't "up" in game?

This is an honest question because everytime I hear a hartke setup I'm blown away at the tone guys get from them.

Yeah, I've read about Aguilar but also have not heard live.  Most people speak of the set up you mentioned as better that the Eden wt800c and 410 xlt setup.  Picking this rig is one of the hardest things I've had to do.  I want it to be right. Frustrating sometimes but I know the Lord will bring me through.

ebs heads have great tone but there cabinets are not as great u might be better off pairing the ebs head with the eden cabinet or...... a great combination that i once had  was an ebs head with a accugroove cabinet www.accugroove.com the accugroove cabinets are awesome and have multiple speaker sizes in them so u can get a full tonal range also check out the markbass series at guitar center. i love it the speakers are lightweight the heads are small and you cant beat the tone look into all of them before you make ur purchase and do wat sounds good to you

let just say there's a reason maurice fitzgerald moved from the eden setup to the aguilar.

I currnetly am just looking for the db750 to finish my rig.  I should have it by Feb.

Actually, I think they are up to game. My main amp is a Hartke and this thing 'booms'! I plan to get a 4x10 cab to match it to. I want to check out their new amps as well.

EBS is a little brighter.  I had an EBS HD350 with 410s and a 15 while in Iraq and it sounded really good.  I came back and tried out an Eden at the local shop, and it instantly to me had a deeper, warmer tone to it.  The EBS is tight, but I would say Eden as well between the two.

I have an aguilar GS410, Peavy BWX15, and a Kustom Groove 1200HD.

I'm going to be picking up my DB750 with my tax returns.

Oddly enough the blackwiddow 15 sounds good with the GS410.
