Kia;

You couldn't have put it any better.

In follow up to my previous post; Hebrews 10:23-25 says,

  "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who
   promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up
   love and good works, [not forsakeing the assembling of ourselves
   together], as a manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so
   much the more as yee see the Day approaching."

Good morning people and God bless you all.  The earliest division in the chruch was in the new testament.  It occured when the orthodox jews and the jews that were for Christ (the new testament) began to disagree with one another. This was the first division of the church.  The other denominations started as the church began to grow.  As other nations began to believe in Christ they began to incorporate things of that nation.  As always it isn't good to mix things of the world with the things of God.  So I have to agree that denominations are not good.  The bible teaches to eat the whole roll.  Becase the whole roll is bitter to the taste, some chruches began to eat only a portion and think that this was the right thing to do.  Becasue this is the world that we live in we must choose to be part of a denomination.  Even a non-denominational church is a denomination (think about it)!  We must choose a church that is for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help us God!  We have to be able to take both the bitter and the sweet of the word of God.  If we don't then we suffer the same fate as a sinner that never comes to the knowledge of truth.  It's not good enough for us to be part of something and never fully live it.  The denomination doesn't matter, it's the life you choose to live.

Be glad in knowing that God has blessed you already!  He has already made a way out of no way, and if he hasn't, then he has the power to see you through it.

I love you all,
Rev. Cecil Ramey

amen, this is so true and it's sad that when you don't want to or don't identify yourself or the ministry as a denomination (for reasons mentioned in several posts) that you're looked upon as being in an occult ... a co-worker said that to me several years ago.  I know that sometimes we may ask a person what "kinda" church they belong to for the sake of basically knowing what they believe or "where they are,"  but it's even more sad to know that not all ministries in a certain "denomination" believe the same (not all baptist believe like other baptist, not all apostolic believe like other apostolic).  Lord have mercy, even more division.

I've heard how a certain minister believed bible doctrine concerning a certain subject, but because of fear of the people they leaned to preaching & teaching what the people wanted to hear.

Jesus blessings!!
