I posed this question because it is easy to lose your motivation, if your intentions aren't pure.
Seems if your motivation is people, then your motivation won't last long, because people are hard to please. If you aren't working for God and God alone then many times you are wasting your time.
Over the weekend I was examining why I do what I do, sometimes we need to stop and see what drives us.
I don't know about that. I see where you're coming from, and I can kinda agree, but...
You can be motivated by people, but not trying to "please" people. (Coincidentally, another LGMer and I just had this very conversation last week). For example, if your ministry is to homeless people, you may be motivated by the smiles on their faces or by the knowledge that you're saving lives, giving hope, ministering to people's needs, etc... that motivation can still "last."
I do agree, however, that only what you do for Christ will last, and if you're not working for Him, your labor is in vain. This was a good question, but you're not going to find anyone who's going to admit to others (or to themselves) that they're motivated by money or fame or status. Most, if not all, Christians will say that they're motivated by a love for God or something like that.
