Boxing: Mayweather Unbeatable
« on: December 10, 2007, 02:32:45 PM »
...after watching Saturday Night's Fight I'm beginning to think Floyd Mayweather Jr. is unbeatable. :-\  I mean, seriously..... the guy is in ultimate shape and can talk up a freakin' storm aaaaaand...............BACK IT UP!!!!  I personally think that one man can stop him though.  His name:  Miguel Cotto.  Any thoughts from the Boxing Fans.....if any?  :-\

Don't think so...

I thought Hatton had a better chance than Cotto because Hatton is faster. And he made Hatton headbut the ring post..... ;D ;D

Mayweather would run circles around Cotto. Plus Zab was hanging close to Cotto before the low blows and Mosley almost beat Cotto as well.

...I don't know about Floyd running circles around Cotto. :-\  I think that's going to be next years Blockbuster Fight.  If Floyd Wins, he can definetly retire.  Till then, he has to fight him because the Critics have already begun talkin'.

...by the way, that knockout looked more like something off of WWE. LMBO.  Poor Hatton....He did a good job and hurt Floyd a few times but his defense SUCKED as we can all see!!! LMBO.

Mayweather/Hatton fight was good. Bit of an anti-climax but still a good one.

The fight was good. I think Mayweather wasn't use to somebody like Hatton and vice versa. I think Hatton did alot of moving around and Mayweather tired him out and went for the kill. Both knockouts were funny... The post did some damage to him on the first one and the second one he stood there and dropped in slow motion...
I'm destined for greatness!!!

I think that it was a good fight as well. I thought that Hatton was more skilled than he was though. He's just a straight brawler and what can I say, its been working for him...he was undefeated. :-\ Mayweather is the real deal baby... ;)

Hatton had everybody fooled....fighting against lower dudes in England.  I thought it would go 12 personally.  This dude Mayweather just knows how to fight.  If you try to brawl and over power him he wears you out and BANG, you lose.  IF you try to box with him yousoon realize that you are not as god as him and BANG, you lose.

He is able to fight any style fight which is why I always enjoy his fights. I thought that Oscar de la Hoya was going to give Mayweather a descent fight, but oh well there goes that assumption.  :-\ ;D

At this point in his career, Mayweather just may be untouchable, period.

But, I'd love to see a Cotto v Mayweather bout, just cause. If he's gonna talk all this junk, may as well back it up against the BEST in the world while YOU'RE considered the best in the world. ;) :-\

Must be a Ricky Hatton fan!  :D

I think Floyd should retire NOW as an undefeated champ.  He has nothing else to prove and he has enough money for 4 generations of Mayweathers.  His body is starting to turn on him so now is the time to bow out gracefully before he begins to take needless butt-whoopin's and tarnish his legacy.
I will bless the Lord at all times, and his praise shall continually be in my mouth...

^^^ No not at all. There was just a lot of hype surrounding Hatton and he didn't even get close.

Like it's been said here... Mayweather backs himself up EVERYTIME. You can't fault the man for that.

Boxing has lost its luster. If Mayweather continues to fight someone will upset him.. It's the nature of the beast

...Like stated before, the best in the World needs to fight the best in the World.  I've been hearing how this latest fight was a joke because Hatton was a midget and he was waaaaaaaayyyyyy over-rated.  :-\ ?/?

...THEE Fight that Mayweather "must" pursue is Cotto vs. Mayweather.  No matter how close to losing Cotto has come and how close to an upset Mayweather may be, this fight has to happen for the both of them and the sport of boxing.  Both fighters are at their top levels of performance and the guy that's "En Fuego" is Miguel Cotto.  I'm telling you guys/lady, if this fight happens, their will be 10 - 12 Rounds of Fury.  It will surely not be a Mayweather/De La Hoya Fight.  Someone will surely be "Dancing with the Stars." LOL

Troof! Mayweather said that he's not going to retire until he fights Cotto. I would pay to see that fight. ;)

Yeah boxing isn't as famous as it used to be due in part to UFC or Prize Fighting. I don't care what they try to come up with though, there is nothing like seeing some good old fashion boxing.

I really love Sugar Ray Leonard boxing show the Contender. I think that the fight between Jaidon Cadrington and Sakio Bika was one of the best fights I ever seen.  ;)

At the end of the day, NO boxer ever retires UNdefeated. As FS said, someone WILL come along and beat Mayweather.

The only question is when.  8)

This man speaks the truth....

Cotto had problems catching an older slower Mosley. No way is he going to catch up to the speed of Mayweather. His style is a brawler style like Hatton's but Hatton is quicker than Cotto. Look at the sig to see how that ended up.

...Cotto is more of a boxer than Hatton.  So he may have a weak chin......so did many other great boxers.  At the end of the day....he still gets the Win.  Quickness and Speed is cool but does not determine who will Win a fight.

...I've seen many boxers that are Lightning Fast and look great while working out in the gym and hittin' the bags buuuuuut when they step in the ring it's a totally different story.

...I personally think that if Cotto fights De La Hoya, he will knock De La Hoya out.  He needs to fight Oscar before getting in the ring with Mayweather in my opinion.  As far as Cotto being a bum.....I don't really get into the name calling game but do look at the facts which are:

Won 31 (KOs 25) Lost 0 Total = 31

You are right, he is not a bum, but not in the same class as Mayweather. I think old Oscar is going to expose him when they get together. They both have a huge fan base so it should be BIG money fight if it happens.
