Need a drummers opinion!
« on: December 13, 2007, 01:24:47 PM »
Despite the colors.... is this a decent kit to practice on at home? Space is limited in the music room, but my SON needs a kit to workout on. Gimme some advice!

PS.....Besides pointing out the colors!!!!! Lol! we could get them recovered right?

If its for practicing only get him a practice kit like the DW Go Anywhere kit or the Gibralter one (forgot the name).

Pros: Cheaper than a full size drum set, son can play anytime day or night (won't disturb anyone), portable.

Cons: Its not a real drum set (That's if you prefer a real drumset), wear & tear on the pads & gear (which is normal anyway).

what ever you do DON'T MAKE YOUR SON PLAY ON THAT KIT!!! :o :o

seriously though if your gonna buy that kit and then recover it, why dont you take the money you'll use for the kit and the recovering and buy him a more MANLY kit from the start? It would be less hassle and he could start jammin' right away

Dre,

due to lack of room, I purchased a pearl rythm travel set for around $415.  The only thing you would have to eventually replace are the cymbals.  I also used the kit on a couple of gigs with a Jazz band.

Drummin....

The shells on the Pearl traveler are a lot thinner...also, look at the bass shell.  Your set maybe the better quality, but the pearl traveler is thinner.

Ok are we not looking for the lowest price and the better quality? When did the thin become a factor to his purchase of a kit? the stagestar takes up about the same amount of space as your kit does... so i dont understand what you really mean about the "thiness"  ?/?
