1st Time Playing outside of Church
« on: February 25, 2008, 10:22:12 AM »
I had a blast yesterday, it was the first time I played outside of a church setting... although it was gospel/worship music.

A sister from Church had a Salon Grand Opening, Yesterday after Service.  It is located in a new Shopping Center, right next to Starbucks and Chipotle so we got a great deal of foot traffic.

The only thing it was hotter than a .45 out there.  We had a canopy but the sun, was abusive. '

I shared time with one of her stylists husbands, who has been playing for atleast 40 years or so.  She didn't realize that two bass players can't play at the same time like guitarist, but it was an honest mistake so I let him have a go, for a while.

He played a Hohner VI, he didn't like the sound he was getting out of my rig, so then he tried my TRB1005 with the recycled DR Lo-Riders on it... LOL! He really enjoyed the tone.  So he ended up making my Bass Sing.  "I almost filed for a Divorce from my Bass, cause she let another man, treat her in such a way"...LOL!

All in all it was fun.  wanted to share with the Fam.

Being that I live in Detroit and was in Buffalo all weekend, this line sent me straight to your profile to see where you're hangin' out!  I knew for certain it wasn't anywhere near me!  (2 - 8" snow forecast for tonight).

If anybody took photos or video, you M-U-S-T post. I'm sure that's in the bylaws somewhere

James

My Bad, To be honest I had forgotten about, I was in Houston Friday, and Saturday, and when I got home Saturday Night, I had a voice message reminding me it was right after service on Sunday.  I'll definately hit you up next time something is going on.

Awww, naw... It's like 90 degrees down here... They are talking about a cold front on the news, its gonna get back down to the 60's... LOL!  I'm laughing now, but when summer hits, I am gonna be wishing I was up North...LOL

Forgot the camera again.... that's the second time I left the camera when I really wanted to have it...  Last time we had a Free Bass Clinic, I brought it but got so caught up I left it in the bag...  :-\  This time, I had to tote equipment and children.  I had the Excursion, leaning I had so much stuff in it... LOL!, except for the camera ofcourse... :-[

The name came because I used to roast boyz on the basketball court... but since I haven't played in years, I already downgraded my self, to Sparkey...LOL!

with the obvious "Yeah Right" look on your face i bet.
You know I did.  One sister who I am always teasing got me good... She said, "I didn't know your guitar could sound like that"...  She's lucky I love her....LOL

I've seen 2 bass players play at the same time. It can be done. You just have to work with each other.

I was playing at a church musical one time and another bass player came and joined in. I had only been playing for about 2 years so naturally I was just trying to hold my own as best as I could and he came in with a Ken Smith 7 string and was chording all around me and it sounded so tight it was crazy! Of course he was a converted guitar player so it was really easy for him. I have tried it a few other times and if you work it out together it can be nice. After all, Parlament, funkadelics all had 2 bass players.....LOL!!!
