I've never seen the show. So, tell me (this is SO good for me to know as a playwright)...
How can you tell AT AN INSTANT that the show is scripted? What gives it away?
NOTICE...I might use some of your replies in my Acting 101 "lecture" at the first rehearsal or auditions next time I do a play. Some of it will be kept for PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE though...as a writer.
It's not very difficult to tell a reality show is scripted if you're even slightly in touch with... REALITY.
Furthermore, you can't make an ordinary person be an actor. Reciting lines doesn't make one a good actor, and Snoop's wife and children are not good actors.

On another subject, I have to say that from time to time when nothing else is on, because I'm a TV junkie, I watch many tasteless programs such as Flavor of Love (caught on late), New York (only recently started watching that one), and Charm School (again, caught on late to that one, too). Although I'm not the smartest person in the world, I'm fairly intelligent and pretty darn well-rounded. I have to say that watching these silly programs doesn't make me any less intelligent. In fact, I started watching Flavor of Love in the middle of the second season because the attorneys in my office were always talking about it and I felt left out, and slightly intrigued.
At worst, it's meaningless, silly entertainment. Perhaps it will "dumbify" the already dumb. But, it has little, if any, effect on the intelligent.
