Situation of the Week (12/31-1/5)
« on: January 03, 2008, 09:34:07 AM »
Picture this:

You are the choir director of a 25 voice choir.  You also have a full time job.  Your choir receives at least $750 for every engagement and you take on at least 10 engagements a month.  You have a keyboardist, organist, bassist, and drummer.

How would you use the money to support the group¿  Would you compensate your musicians and/or choir members¿  If so, how much¿

Would you take a portion of the money as your salary as well¿  If so, how much¿

It totally depends on whether this is a church choir or a community choir.  It also depends on whether my musicians are full-time musicians or contract musicians.

If this is a church choir where the musicians are contractors:
I would give each choir member a $10 stipend for gas money or dinner or dry cleaning or whatever. ($250)

I would give the organist and keyboardist $150 each, ($300)

I would give the bassist and drummer $100 each. ($200)

That totals $750.

If we're talking about full-time musicians, I'd probably give them $50-$100 each, and the choir members $15.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

I would take seperate $750.

I would put $325 in the Music Account (Musicians, CDs, sheet music, etc) and put the other half in the Choir Account not for dispersements to the choir members but for stuff only the choir members may need such as outfits for uniform or choir CDs or better to supply the choir with food on singing engagements.....Its so many different ways this could be done. But i would save a months worth of Income and just pay the musicians once per month for all engagements and let the choir account increase but explain to them what's about to happen with the money.

I agree with this and for the choir account things such travel expenses, floral arrangement for death in family etc.
If it had not been for the Lord on my side, where would I be!!!
