I think that's Wal-Mart's brand.  :D
That would explain why I've never heard of it.

I've got some friends here at Tech who claim that he's their man too.  Are you coming to VT to regulate February 9th? :)

I believe overall (musical) talent will win outright every time, regardless of the outward appearance. However, the only way we would be able to weigh its (looks) importance is to see the amount of opportunities given to those that look great versus those that are not so pleasing to the eye.

1) How difficult was their journey "in" versus the one who looks appealing. Were there more obstacles for them?

2) How many job opportunities (i.e. Movies, Hosting, Commercials,...) are available to them now versus the other.

We all know the gospel community is larger than record sales. And in order for me to conduct a fair assessment of whether it is important or not is.. to look into every department of the gospel industry.

And she comes down stairs and she had one of them in her hand...

I'm looking like....
"Man, I ain't seen one of those in years....
Then I'm like....
Mother...What in the world are you doing with a church fan in the crib??
(The second statement was definitely said in my head) :D :D

LOL!! -- I was speaking of the world's standards. I'm his number one fan. He's my man on the side---I love all of him! I don't look at people based on size---Shucks when I dated Big Daddy he had a gut and I was small. Big Daddy was and still is gorgeous to me! Fred Hammond is beautiful to me!

As far as the being opinionated----Can we not speak of things honestly without it being called opinionated? I believe the comments here giving examples, only spoke the truth. If those artist would be offended because they are called obese, then, demial they are in. We gave examples, staying within the context of the topic.

I mean really, if this thread is too opinionated, let's stop posting news stories and then talking about those folks---they may be on this board too. Let's not talk about anyone or anything---that'll keep posting down in the lounge.

The opinionated thing is when we go too far. No one is being ridiculed. Statement of facts have been made.

I didn't expect you (or Jonathan, for that matter... lol) to agree.  But, that's cool.  I ain't mad, you ain't mad, hopefully God ain't mad, so it's all good.  :)

I do think there's a thin line between what's acceptable and what's not.  And as it relates to news stories and all that, I'll be honest, I'm not always sure where to draw that line.  I just play it by ear and try to check myself when I'm wrong, or trust the saints and the Holy Ghost himself to keep me in check when I don't check myself.  Just to clarify where I'm coming from... I'm going to use VT as an example because I know he won't take it the wrong way.

If he were to record a CD, and we were having this very discussion in this very thread where someone suggested that you have to look good in order to be successful in gospel music.  Then, someone else comes along and say, that's not true, just look at VT.  That's kinda rough to read about yourself, and that's all I'm saying.  :-\  But, again, I'm okay with your dissent.  :)

Ephesians 5:4 (AMP) - Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God].

Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.

I guess that's your opinion. Pointless for me to get made because it's your opinion.

I am of the opinion that I didn't say anything contrary to the Word. Reading the scriptures posted, I didn't say anything out of line. I spoke truth and said it in a decent manner---without ridicule.

So I respect your opinion.

The next time we talk about an artist's music, I expect a lot of ya'll to only say that the cd was all good.  :D :D

Switch VT's name with anyone in your news stories and we're back at Sister T's point. :-\
