I for one like analogies and found it quite humorous. I think the Mods and owner of this site have every right to run this site as they see fit. I know that in times past that I've said some rough words but for the most part my point of view has been expressed with very little censorship. I got a PM about a thread when I first joined but it was in love and the spirit showed me that. There are times that I know that the perspective I bring to this site is both healthy and timely. My biggest regret is that sometimes we are somewhat sensitive to discussing issues that can produce growth in all of our understanding. The stats that 4h presented is quite suprising. I appreciate a site that will let someone as contrary as I visit expound on my wild views... I'm suprised they ain't voted me off the island..
Either way its all good because healthy conversation can build a person's understanding or compromise some of their theology that they hold dear. I really do appreciate all of the great minds that I've learned from here. My spiritual life has truely been enriched in areas that some of you may never know. I pray that we all take on a spirit of healthy and respectful discussion. We are all human and our emotions and not the spirit can get the best of us. Moderators are Moderators for a reason. Now that's coming from one of the most radical thinking cat yall have on here.... I've been teased and sometimes attacked for my views but I keep coming back for more.. WE all do...
Very well said, FS. Very well said. No unit is perfect - NONE. There are bad apples in every single bunch. Period. But, with that said, I have gotten to know a few of the moderators here, and some of them are really, really GOOD people with good hearts and good intentions. I say the same of the rank and file membership. As LL once said, and I completely agree, LGM is a microcosm of the church as a whole. There are some good pastors and not so good pastors. Some good leaders and not so good leaders. Some good members and not so good members. You gotta take the bitter with the sweet, eat the fish and spit out the bones. I haven't always been good at that, but I'm getting better every day, thanks be to God.
Like you, I know my opinion is usually the most unpopular one, and I don't take too much time to sugar coat things to make it more palatable. But, even despite the condescending and/or obnoxious comments here and there, I still appreciate the opportunity to voice my opinion uncensored (usually). Those folks are an small segment of a larger, wonderful group of people, so like you, I keep coming back for more. And as long as the good outweighs the bad, I will continue to do so. And I completely agree that open conversation from a variety of perspectives is healthy and can build understanding and foster spiritual and personal growth. I love to learn, and I have learned a whole lot from so many people here. Even when I disagree with a person's opinion, I still love hearing them because it challenges me to rethink my own opinion.
(And I liked B3W's analogy, too... lol).
