An 'anointing' in the Bible, always followed an 'appointing'. Kings and priests were appointed and anointed for service.

When David was anointed king he went back into the fields as a shepherd. It was YEARS before he was placed in his Anointed & appointed position.

I agree with Larue. Too much logic. An anointing is God's favor---and we all know Favor ain't fair.

Sis T - Now you know I love one liner's myself but God always follows precept. David was also long before being appointed seeking God and his lifestyle was reflective of his heart for GOD, which lead to his being anointed ;)

Well I am done I can not convince anyone of what my bibles says. To each his own. Anointing or not we all have to get to heaven on our own.

I'm done.

LTWS ( Let The Word Speak)

I have a few things to say, in closing ( :))

1. Despite the fact that I'm a bit disheartened by some ideas and opinions presented here, I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion.  I really did.

2. I appreciate your use of (and knowledge of) scripture, J31.  That was good stuff, it was a good read... and you don't normally get down like that, so it was refreshing to read all that from you.

3. Your post was good and all, but none of it disproves that Fantasia is (or is not) anointed.  Those scriptures tell how and why one might be anointed, and what is required, etc... however, none of us knows what Fantasia does in the privacy of her home, her church, her living room floor, etc.

4.  This is just one of those things that we're probably not going to agree on, but please don't think it's because we're not convinced of what "your" Bible says (as you implied in your 11:19:46).  As with most matters within Christianity, we all read the same Bible and come to different conclusions.

Love ya bruh, and again, I really have enjoyed this discussion.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

Don't confuse anointing with being gifted. This is often done in the BOC, we must learn the difference even in Gospel artist.

true!!!

Ya know, this thread went around and around about anurrntin' and stuff... but her performance in that clip in the first post wasn't even all that hot from a plain ol' talent perspective.  I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't impressed.

I didn't feel the spirit in that at all.

I was a little distracted by her....ummmm attire.

It's hard to get in the presence while I see your dress is hugging and exposing your tibbles and bits a little too much.

Fo real, man.  I'm just sayin'... if you gonna hop around like that for the purpose of making it seem like you're singing better than you really are, then you betta invest in a bra and girdle so you don't be jigglin and ripplin topside and below deck.  LAWD HE'P.

Then again, I'm not of her music... and I still say that when she smiles it looks like she's grimacing in pain or taking a dump or something.

I'm just sayin'...

The three people I'm feeling in this thread are Larue, Sister and J31. All of your perspectives bring out some complex but simple points that Christ always championed. Anointing simply is the ability to carry out a task. Biblical annointing was to publically displayed to show God had chosen someone. Now God doesn't have to put on public displays as such because he chooses to make our logic look foolish to us. All of us are chosen for a task. Gone are the days of the prophet pouring out oil over our heads... Most of the answers that disapproves of Fanatasia is steeped in a "religious" mindset. If Fantasia tapped some of us to go on the road with her then the tenor of the conversation would change.

IF God can get glory out of a Donkey then he can get it out of Fantasia, inapporpriate dress and all. Didn't a harlot prepare Jesus for his burial? Didn't Solomon build the temple but worship the God's of his many wives? Why I felt J31's comments so much was because he quoted Paul's assessment of the uselessness of gifting detached from the love of God. Religious thinking always causes the BOC to miss the essence of God's love for us. There is a season for crying out against the hypocrisy amongst us. The season is always ripe for God to defy our logic in a display such as this... Many of us have got up before the people tore up from the floor up filled with all manners of darkness only to appear "anointed" before men... God let the woman caught in adultry go because her accusers were hypocrites.. All of us fit the same description.....

I feel you doc, however I know that Fantasia still knew what song she was going to sing and what she was going to wear........

Even if God is using you, you still have control over what you put on

I don't think anyone here will argue that what she had on was distracting.  Even before I clicked the link, I said to myself, "oh lawd, is this the one with the yellow dress?"  I didn't even remember what song she sang, or how good the performance was, or whether I was moved by it... I just remembered the yellow dress.

Yeah, it was distracting.  We all know that.  The problem isn't the dress, the problem is whether any of us are omnniscient enough to definitively determine whether or not she's anointed.

I personally can't tell you if she's anointed, but I can tell you that I wasn't feeling the spirit moving when she was singing (but that might just be because of the distractions...which might actually point back to the anointing)

And I can tell you that I just wasn't feeling the SINGING.

loved it! but what was wrong with the dress? honestly i wasnt distracted at all...i think people see THE PERSON more so than the dress...cuz I've seen Yolanda Adams with a similar dress...and there wasnt a problem....nor would it be if it was any TOTALLY committed gospel artist...i think ppl are looking at the person which makes the dress bad :-\

Don't get it twisted... Yolanda can be distracting, lol... and I've yet to see her in a dress like that with no kind of "containment".  So for me, it wasn't the person.  The dress just wasn't appropriate.
