loved it! but what was wrong with the dress? honestly i wasnt distracted at all...i think people see THE PERSON more so than the dress...cuz I've seen Yolanda Adams with a similar dress...and there wasnt a problem....nor would it be if it was any TOTALLY committed gospel artist...i think ppl are looking at the person which makes the dress bad :-\

I'm not "looking at the person."  I happen to like Fantasia.  But, that dress was inappropriate for that occasion, and for that level of physical involvement in the performance.  Furthermore, if she had to wear that dress, she should've worn more supportive undergarments.

Period.

Co sign I have never seen Yolanda really ever move much during performances, while everytime Fantasia sings she has got to move, because to me she is more of an entertainer than singer.

Doc are you seriously telling me that you didn't notice all that bouncing going on (and i'm not talking about her legs).

I'm not trying to stir the pot, but you mention that it wouldnt' be a probably if it was any totally committed gospel artist......well yes it would.

Let Yolanda do the same thing....and I would say the same thing.

Again if a womans Tibbles and bits are all out there I'll be the first to admit that my mind is going directly to the bullseye.  That's just me talking as a man.  This is why preachers are always saying women need to be aware of the kind of tops/clothes they wear.

Same reason you also hear pastors say some devils are up in the choir stand.....

Somebody put me in the key of E#

And I can tell you that I just wasn't feeling the SINGING.

She sounded like she was doing a lot more screaming than singing. :-\

I just wonder can they hear themselves when they do all that squeeling and yelling. Do they actually think that sounds good? I hate when people go outside of their voices in order to impress people. It really makes them sound like homemade crap....Fa' real

Although a lot of screaming is a turn-off (and pet peeve), some of it I actually like.  :-\

For example, I love when Dottie Peoples screams, not that I'm a Dottie fan.

I like Fantasia's style of "screaming" (which is more like what we call sqwalling (int. sp).

And my favorite of all sqwallers is Adrianne Lewis of Rizen... that chick can sqwall in my CD player any day, any night.

James Hall has a lead vocalist that sqwalls, but I can't remember her name right now... but, I love it.

And there's a male quartet singer who does a LOT of screaming... I'm not into quartet music too much, but I sure love that dude... lol.

Sqwallin is a science, you gotta know when to do it, and how much, cause sometimes well, its not called for.  But that Adrianne, she is great, she can holla like a vet!!  But as of late, I just feel like people call the anointing their own personal likes and dislikes (Leadership included)

Oh shuddup... you were supposed to be chucklin at the Wikipedia reference!!!  ::) >:( >:( :D

And I just looked it up... I wasn't really a big fan of their stuff... their voices were kinda whiny to me, but I do remember liking the overall sound and the harmony.  They reminded me of gospel, so I wasn't surprised to read that they have Pentecostal backgrounds.

I liked about 3 or 4 of the songs on the list I just saw...  :-\

Yeah, they were whiney, but that seemed to be the thing in the 90's.  After all, that was the time of Keith Sweat, the KING of whining.
