You can't tell me that she wasn't an anointed singer--at that time.

Yes I can.  Not everyone that has talent and sings in church has anointing.  She might have had it at some point, but it ain't guaranteed just cuz she used to sing good in church.

Yes, I understand the need to not confuse the anointing with being gifted.  However, Fantasia did grow up singing in the church.  And I know that doesn't mean that someone's automatically anointed.  But I was there at the recording of the COG when she sang "Endow Me" with the three others, and I could definitely feel the anointing in the room when she sang it.  (Unfortunately, it's not always easy to feel that through television.)

How about when Whitney Houston sang for The Preacher's Wife?  She grew up singing in church, but ended up recording R&B.  You can't tell me that she wasn't an anointed singer--at that time.  (After all that crack or whatever was going on is a different story, but I think you see my point.)

Like LaRue mentioned about the gospel community embracing her, jumping around in that dress does cause some confusion...(Yes, I saw your tiny script bassthumpa :))

I wasn't confused at all. It just further magnified that fatc that she is not anointed because The Holy Ghost would have told her not to come out on stage and sing in that dress. ;) :-\

There ya go. :)  Ok, forget about the Whitney Houston thing.  All I'm trying to say is that I was there at the COG when Fantasia sang "Endow Me" and I think others in the room (of the recording) would agree that they could definitely feel the anointing on her.

Don't confuse anointing with being gifted. This is often done in the BOC, we must learn the difference even in Gospel artist.
I often wonder does it matter if we feel they are anointed or not.  God knows and that's enough for me.

I asked that because I agree do one or the other, but I also say that some of us would crack her kneecaps & then purposely listen to secular music & also play it in venues that ain't nowhere near the church. I was making sure you were being consistent. :D

THis threaD seems to have gotten to be Anointing vs giftedness.

Fantasia sound the notes out of that song! Whew! I'm with J31, the dress wasn't at all modest.

I can't say whether she is anointed or gifted. I don't watch her or really know much about her, except that she's a B-A-B-Y  M-A-M-A.

The anointing will draw others to Christ. The anointing will glorify God.

But here's a question----David was anointed King. This same anointed David slept with another man's wife and tried to cover up a murder by having a man killed. Was David not anointed? So my question would be---is it not possible for Fantasia to be anointed?

I don't know what in the world you had for breakfast this morning, but you are ON IT today!!!!!!  Good, good question.

That's all I'ma say about that.

Naw it ain't.... lol... I just want to know how in the world we ever got to a place where we can tell someone that they are (or are not) anointed just because of what WE see or hear, or because of what we feel or do not feel???

We just gotta stop trying to figure out with our rational minds what God would or wouldn't do because of what we "know."

I will probally get hit on the head for this one but.....

God gives us gifts and talents to bring him glory. The enemy may intercept and try to pervert it, but ya'll when I hear Whitney Houston, Joe and Wayan (from Boys to Men) sing something gospel...I feel like they tap into what God created them for I feel like cryin!

Ummm not really.   I did play at a church and they had a M3.  I didn't think that thing would ever start.  I had to hold the start switch for at least 30 seconds.
