Last night at ATOP (Anointed Temple of Praise), Pastor Porter preached about having a “YET PRAISE” from Psalm 42.
•This Psalm was written to the sons of Korah. Korah was a wicked leader. He and those under his leadership were swallowed up when God opened up the earth in the Old Testament. In this book, David and others were giving the SONS of Korah a chance to follow God. This should also show the believer that just because your mom and dad messed up doesn’t mean your chances are over!
•In several verses throughout Psalms 42 and 43, the writer expresses his anguish over things that have happened, but QUICKLY reminds himself in the midst of it to “hope in God”. This shows us how no matter how down we may seem to be, we can speak to ourselves and encourage ourselves in what we KNOW to be true about God!
•We must remember that God isn’t against us, He is for us. That means in spite of what is going on, God is in control! If we KNOW He is in control, then WHAT are are worrying about?
•Worship is no more than praise in advance. Worship is tapping into what He hasn’t done YET (the way he explained this was so deep!!!). If your praise is loud, your worship should be louder. Over the years, WE have made worship something quiet. But worshipping God for WHO HE IS is the same as worshipping Him for what He is able to do (because we know who He is)! Even when it is not all GOOD, it’s all GOD!
•People see us down for now and count us out for good. Truth is “you can’t judge my RIGHT NOW because you haven’t seen my LATER ON”!
•Finally, he looked at the word “YET” in the Hebrew, which is “owd”. Owd actually has three meanings. The third meaning is “to go around”. This tells us TWO THINGS about having a yet praise. Number one, no matter how bad it may look, we still have to give God praise because it’s OW’D to Him anyway! Number two, if the third meaning is “go around” that means no matter what the devil throws our way, we have to keep GOING AROUND it and never stop praising!
