LET IT RAIN
« on: February 25, 2008, 11:02:41 PM »
I know the chords to this song.I know everybody play this song.I just like to know your approach to this song. What some of the things you do to spice it UP.I like to use some delay with it.For those who do not know. The chords are C-G-AM-G-F,i hit the C at the 3FRETT,then G 3RD FRETT,then song melody notes,E on the b string at the 5th frett, then D,on the g string at the 7th frett. Then back to the G chord ,i like to do a Jimi partil chord here. Then up to 1st frett for the F.This only how i play it.

I play this song all over the neck!  ;D
Seriously, it's the same chords over and over and over...unless you modulate...and I find it easy to stick in all those Hendrix/SRV blues and pentatonic licks.

Also, I tweak the chords just a little. Instead of playing straight major or minor chords, I play a couple compound chords and chords with modifiers, like this:

Open the floodgates of heaven
C - - - - - - - - - - - - - -G/B
Let - it  - rain
Em - G - Am7
Let - - it - - - - rain
Am7 - Am7/G - Fmaj7

It's a great song to practice chord inversions on, especially over the C, G, Am and F chords since it holds each one for a few beats. Give time to mess around a little.

Maybe I'll do a video of this one?

I think it'd be a good video to speak about both some pentatonic and blues licks as well as show some examples of chord inversions.
Let me see how quickly I can get on it.

This guy is playing "let it rain".

Have you been baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost?
