Here's how homecoming was....
« on: August 24, 2003, 08:40:55 PM »
First, I woke up with a HUGE headache. I didn't get to finish cooking dinner before church. I was running late because I had to comb Cecily's hair. NO ONE would want to comb Cecily's hair! Cecily is my 3 yr. old who was born bald, and now has hair down her back. And talk about thick! You have to start a day ahead to get it all done. No joke.  I took it down Saturday night just to get a head start on Sunday morning and it still took forever.  So I took a tylenol, turned the food off,and headed for church...70MPH in a 55. Got to church, and they were late getting started!
Well, that gave me a couple of minutes to warm up. I looked up, and this couple came in, and I could just tell this man was a musician. I just felt it. So I checked out the program, and there they were: "Musicial Selections" by Mr. & Mrs. something or other.  You must be pretty good to be down for "selection-S"! I knew where we were headed then.
When time came for them to sing, sis. was excellent and bro. played that old raggedy piano like it was a new baby grand!  Then, after the sermon, he went back to the piano and started playing the intor. to a song, leaned over and asked me if I'd mind.  What was I suppose to say? It really didn't matter to me because I didn't want to play after him anyway.

I'm glad it's over.  what did I learn???...
1. Musically speaking, I have a long way to go, but I'm better than I use to be.
2. Never compare yourself to other musicians. You may leave feeling goods, but sometimes you can leave feeling bad. You are what you are.
3.  And Cecily needs a perm!!!!!

Be blessed everyone,
Ruth

Ruth, Girl--I can just hear your voice giving the run-down!!!  You should do comedy--you know that, don't you?

I'm glad you're still standing after all that.  I have one question: What good is ONE Tylenol?  I take 4 advils at one time---800 mg.

You're right--don't compare yourself (although it's hard not to do it) and just keep on keepin' on.  I'm going to call you this week for lesson 2 on PowerTracks so we can really get you going with it to study songs.

Love you, and I'm proud of you playing girl--remember when you could hardly get through a song in public without shaking?!?!?  YOU GO GIRLFRIEND!!

Ruth I know how you feel. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged. Hey weren't you suppose to be playing during that time that guy asked you do you mind?
