"I won't Complain" and "His Eye is on the Sparrow": I don't really understand this song...I mean, I know the scripture but the song is kind of weird.  It seems to be more about a bird and less about God.  It's not that I don't like these songs, moreso than they are sung TOO MUCH.  Everytime someone sings a solo it is one of those songs.  It doesn't help that people have to yell their way through the songs, too.  Why so loud?

I think the meanig of that song is, that if God keeps an eye out for a little bird, Then he surely is Watching over us.

On the way back from my mom's house this past weekend, I listened to Yolanda's Live in Washington CD.  It almost made me sad to hear how much her music has changed since that CD.  I have everything she did before that, and that's the last project of hers I ever purchased.

And someone mentioned Trinitee's "There it Is."  I. ABSOLUTELY. ABHOR. THAT. SONG...... uggghhhh!!!

Gospel songwriting rule #1: Do not include the lyrics "look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, no it's Jesus," in your song.  ?/? :-\ ::) :-[ >:( >:( >:(

Well, how about Beau Williams' "Holy Ghost Work Me Till I Sweat"? I think he watched "The Steve Harvey Show" too much, sounds a lot like "When The Funk Hits The Fan", lol. I'd never heard it before until our minister of music let him come to our church and sing it as a special guest. Everyone in the church was aghast! Looks of disbelief, those us in the choir were trying not to laugh, but when he brought that whistle out, it was all over!

LMBO :D !!!! I feel you though, when I heard that song I was like WOW!!!

**Gasps** at T-Block, I love "Rough Side of the Mountain", and all of Keith Wonderboy's songs!

**Gasps** at Virteunow, I can't believe u love "Rough Side Of The Mountain".  Why the heck do you purposely wanna go up the rough side of a mountain?  That to me is insane and idiotic.

And Keith Wonderboy need to change his style cuz if you heard one of his songs, you pretty much heard em all.

**Gasps** at T-Block, I love "Rough Side of the Mountain", and all of Keith Wonderboy's songs!  You know me, I can take it back sometimes!  Anyway, I don't like Yolanda Adams songs.  She sounds like she is oversinging--almost yelling throughout all of her songs.  It is so annoying.  I also don't like that style of singing where people do alot of runs and yelling.  Very annoying and unreal.  I don't think of that as singing.

My favorite rendition of that song is when Bruh Man sang it on "Martin."

And can someone please post a link so I can hear "Work Me Till I Sweat."  I have to hear that song.  That title leaves so much opportunity to wind up on the "Quiet Storm."  I can see it now.........Shhhhh, turn the lights down girl.  Check this out.  WHAT?  I thought that was a slow jam.

BTW, "When The Funk Hits The Fan" is my JAM!!!!!!!!  I'm going to find some kind of way to burn that song to a CD.

;) I grouse at church when we play a hymn with 5-6 verses!
Often the Pastor will take one look and say 'Sing Verse 1,3,5'
But since we're doing a Choir processional this Sunday, guess it makes more sense in that case...

Haha, I like your perception of the "Roughside" song T-Block.  You have to know it's not on purpose.

Wonderboy has that gospel quartet feel.  It is very inspirational to hear.  It takes you "down home".  You can't get that feeling and that same jump w/new age music.  It's just different.  That hand clapping, foot stomping, make you wanna run around the church kind of music.  (*hint, I'm giving u a chance to change your mind).

As far as Yolanda, I almost forgot how much people like her; but I'm just not a fan of her style.

That reminds me of this song the Sr. Choir used to sing long time ago.  "Lord, don't move my mountain, but give me the strength to climb, Lord, don't take away my stumbling block, but lead me all aroung"

Here's a clip on Amazon's site to hear a sample of it...but I think it's best if you can hear the whole song (although just hearing the hook was enough for me to turn the station :) )

I have been inspired to write a song called "Lord, Lead Me to the Ski Lift of Life."

Why am I envisioning a video with breakdancers and Beau Williams wearing Cross Colours?

I hate 90% of tracks where the artist talks for a long time...

That goes for Israel, Kirk, Kurt, Carlton... if you're gonna talk, put it on another track so I can at least skip it.  After you've heard it 59 times if it WAS ministering, it stopped at about the 5th spin, but I still have to endure it and it sounds more rehearsed every time, lol.

And the musicians keep looping the same thing for 5 minutes, waiting to start the song. reminds me of that betty wright song

EXACTLY, no need in me wasting all that energy when I could be doing something else more useful!!!

I understand what u saying, and I do actually like the quartet style, if I'm playing the bass.  But, I can't take a whole CD full of it cuz it's like listening to the same song over and over and over again in different keys.  Plus, there is better hand clapping, foot stomping music out that I can listen to other than Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson.  You need to expand your horizons young lady, LOL.  ;)  :D
