I need to understand

My little brother is only 22 years old.  He has been in the hospital since yesterday (Sunday Feb. 17).  He was showing symptoms of kidney stones and so the dr. scheduled him for a CT scan.  To the dr.'s and everyone else's surprise, the CT scan didn't show kidney stones at all, but two HOLES... one in his colon and one in his bladder.  He is scheduled for major surgery this coming Wednesday, which will remove the part of the colon where the hole is and then they have to "try" (their words) to repair the bladder by stitching it closed.  He is in extreme pain and being pumped full of morphine as I type.  However, before they can do the surgery on Wednesday, he has to have tests tomorrow to rule out colon cancer.  22 years old!  We are all beside ourselves...all we can do right now is pray, I know that.  I just have to say that I really don't understand any of this.  My mother is beside heself, my dad is terrified but trying not to scare my mom.  Thanks for reading, I'm just looking for words of encouragement.  Has anyone else ever heard of anything like this in someone so young?  I just don't understand any of this.

Wow.  I have never heard of this happening so young.  Sister Rochelle, I know we don't have all the answers, but I am praying for your brother.  He's in control, and he understands, even if you don't... that's not an easy place to be, but he has your brother and your entire family in his hands.  I am believing and trusting God with you.  Please keep us updated on your brother's progress.

I will keep you posted, thank you.  This just doesn't make sense to me. The dr.'s are even in shock that this is happening so young.  It's almost like everyone is speechless.

Talk to my cuz chevonee. Her brotha went thru somethng similar to dis. He wuz only like 14 when he had a bowel obscruction or something like dat. The doc say he wasn't gone make it but he still living. God able to turn it around, just have to pray dat he will iz done in da situation. Be blessed

My baby sister was 17 when diagnosed with Crohn's disease.  The doctors and specialists initially thought it was colon cancer.  While it did have an adverse effect on her life and lifestyle, we were very relieved that it wasn't what the doctors thought it was.  No matter what the doctors say, Jesus has the final say-so.  Girl, sometimes, the doctors are RIGHT, but Jesus steps in and turns everything around!!!  Don't even get me started on that one!

Girl, you know we love you around here, and we will be lifting your brother and your family up in prayer.  Step back for a minute and see it for what it is: a situation completely orchestrated under God's supervision.  Honey, He has it all under control.  And you can trust that!

He's watching closely, and He won't leave your brother's side for a moment.  I love you, sis.  And, I'm praying for you in Jesus's name.

Illness in the lives of loved ones can be a very unnerving situation.  As always i'm believing the report of the Lord....by His stripes, your brother is healed, in Jesus' Name.

Take comfort in knowing that our God is an all knowing God.  He, knows just what your brother needs and the dr's hands are the tools that God is going to use during that surgery, should there be a need for it....I, am praying for your family's peace in this situation and for a complete healing and speedy recovery.

I just got a call from my mom - they just completed tests...there are NO SIGNS of cancer, no tumors, NOTHING.  The surgery will proceed tomorrow morning to repair the "holes" and then we'll go from there.....Oh.....God is GOOD.  Thank you for all of your prayers!!

I'm bringing this back for a minute cuz I have a praise report....God is SOOO GOOD!  When I started this thread, my little brother had just gone into the hospital.  Turns out he had something called diverticulitis and peritonitis...and peritonitis is very severe and can, in most cases, be fatal....Now, I said "most" cases....but NOT MY BROTHER'S!!!  Praise the Lord!!  He had the surgery as scheduled on Wednesday Feb. 20...although he is only 22 years old and has a total of 35 staples going up his stomach from the incision (ouch!)...his colon is repaired and working - everything is fixed!  The dr.'s said that after this kind of surgery, it usually takes 7-10 days for the colon to start working, but it only took my brother's 4 days!!  His feeding tube was removed last night...he had  food today for the first time in 9 days.  He said a turkey sandwich from the hospital never tasted so good (he also works there in the hospital in the I.T. Dept.)....and it looks like he will be coming home by Thursday and Friday of this week.  I want to thank everyone here at LGM for your prayers and words of encouragement.  He's coming home and is expected to make a full recovery!!  Thank you Lord!  He is so worthy to be praised!  Hallelujah!
