I cut it off within 50 Seconds. I have gotten to the point where I just dislike watching this type of stuff. It seems like there are seeing who can fit the most licks into a bar.

I was here months ago. You're right, these dudes are wicked, but I love to hear drumming in a complete musical situation now instead of lick after lick after lick...you get the point. I actually turned it off at the 30 sec. mark. Now, the clip that Sabe posted on pocket...I watched that about three times (that's where it's at for me right now).

its not so much a matter of appealing to ones musical pallette, its just it seems now days all we see to is hard hitting sheds with hardly any musicality. now dnt get me wrong i think jamal and aaron are amazing drummers, and i do myself enjoy playing fast rolls and so on. its just that it get old fast and you rarlely learn anthying from clips like these. nowadays im trying to steer away from youtube and instead foucus on listening to the great drummers which can wow you from start to finish without having to leave the pocket, such as bill stewart, phillie joe jones and keith carlock. and trust me you learn much more that way

i personally love all the licks and chops! and i have heard aaron play different gigs where he wasnt playing a bunch of licks and he sounded great! in fact he was on the view playing 4 backstreet boys a few months ago and the song was like a rock ballad. he was very musical! now if i go on you tube and click on a clip that says shed or aaron and jamal killin..or blazing or whatever, i know its gonna have some crazy chops in it. i dont really expect anything more. like it or not...thats how those 2 guys like 2 shed. if its not ur idea of a shed and you would rather hear soft buzz rolls around the kit then thats fine..but dont knock people who dont spend all there time on that stuff! everyone has different expressions musically and if its not ur cup of tea thats fine...everyone is entitled 2 their own opinion. i like all different drummers from steve gadd..dave weckl..dennis chambers..elvin jones..jeff tain watts..will kenndy, all the way 2 aaron spears..spanky..calvin rodgers..terry baker..thomas pridgen  and so on. all these guys bring something different 2 the table and they r all great musicians!

Awww dont get mad because everyone didnt jump on your band-wagon of calling this clip "Dope!"     Everyone on this board loves Jamal and Aaron!  We all know how professional they are.  Thats why most of us were expecting something a lil different when we opened the link.  I like to hear that kind of drumming over a loop.  Thats when it sounds best.  But because it was over a choir song, the shed, chops and licks should have been in perspective, which they were'nt.  Thats all man.  Your sensitivity meters are off the charts!!!

PERIOD! The language is called "BEAST" If you dont speak French, a convo with a french person will sound like noise to you too!!!! When musicians shed over cd's or ipods. Its mainly to shed the tempo or the feel of the song. NOT THE SONG! Why would dude post a clip playing everything in perspective, spanky already did that on the record. Its just like the Usher joint I posted on my myspace page with me playing bass on it. It was a lil busy, why???? Its showcasing me! The song already had everything in perspective. I just wanted to workout over it. Why you expect something a lil different from Aaron and Jamal, knowing that it was a shed clip? would it have made it better if Tye wasnt playing in the background? Cant speak for nobody else, but ummm............I know WAY to many drummers that soak stuff up from vids like this. I know I do every time I watch one. There is plenty of "musicality" in these clips, but only if you speak the language. Aaron wasnt voted Modern Drummers MVP for nothing. Pocket doesnt mean not having or doing chops, you can be outta pocket for being plane! Alot of cats that talk and worship the pocket are outta pocket themselves for not studying the stuff that makes playin interesting. Im not just a pro bass player, Im a pro drummer too, and Ive worked with the best of the best. Not saying my opinion is the BIBLE, but its some valid truth. But its all about class and style. Point blank, Aaron has been on the biggest gigs in America since 2004, hes In New Zealand with Backstreet Boys right now. If shedding like that is what gets you to where he is? Everybody on this board needs to get to their nearest kit ASAP.......... Ikickset, I agree, the clip was dope.

First of all, being that me and and a whole bunch of other musicians on this site are BIG fans of these two, we are entitled to our opinions.

Im sorry dude!  You know I love you like a brother but, you cannot compare your Usher clip to this.  Your clip was a lil busy but it was clean and it was in perspective.  No one is taking anything from these cats.  They are killer in my book.  I just dont like the clip.  People are not going to like everything you do just because youre a beast man.  In this case, the clip is bad because you can barely understand whats going on.  Not because we dont speak the language.  Its because of the audio quality along with the lack of space between the fills.  So dont come on here with 26 posts (and i dont care how long you've been a member) and insult the fam like that homie.

Honestly, I just thought it was entertaining lol. Did I learn anything? Absolutely not. Was the barrage of notes and fills necessary? Not at all. I just take clips like these for what they are...entertainment. So they shedded over a song, big deal. Of course they pretty much BUTCHERED the tune itself, but I think they were trying to do that. I watched it one time, thought it was cool, and that was it. This is the internet, I don't expect everything to be valuable. If I want to learn from a clip, I can go find some on my own. I like being entertained sometimes.

I will say though, I prefer hearing these guys playing with band at this point, because it seems like watching them shed is pretty much repetitive. A guy like Aaron is such a craftsmen behind the set, it's great hearing him play music and his approach to different musical situations. His shed moves kinda bore me now, but the arm flailing and crazy head gyrations make it fun to watch Bottom line, the clip was entertaining, didn't really serve any musical purpose, but wasn't blasphemy against drumming. It was fun to watch...one time lol. GB

That clip was weak for all the reasons Kevin and the fam has posted. That's why I didn't post a comment, because it not worth commenting on... We all speak the chops language on here dude so don't go there... 26 post?
