I, for one, didn't miss the point.  I've followed this thread from beginning to end, and wasn't moved to post anything substantial until I responded to Herman's post.

The sad reality, whether it's beside your point or not, is that your sentiment ("why do they flock to our church choirs") is a common and unfortunate one, in my opinion.  We shouldn't care why they flock to our church choirs, we should be happy they're coming in the doors, and thank God for the opportunity to minister love and restoration to their souls.  If you don't want them in your church (or your church choir), I'm sure there's someone else who will take them.

That's all I'm saying....

Then there are those who started IN church are now gay because they picked up that spirit at church.
Does anybody know somebody that was straight and saw a gay person at church and thought it would be cool to convert?

 :D :D :D

No one in their right mind would choose to "convert" to homosexuality.  Who would knowingly subject themselves to rejection from their families, society, workplace, and church?  Who would knowingly subject themselves to the humiliation, scorn, ridicule, and teasing?  Who would knowingly subject themselves to the spiritual conflict and emotional turmoil gay believers face every day of their lives?

I don't think so...

But, anyway, that's not what LittleLamb was saying anyway.  She's saying that it's a SPIRIT that straight people can "pick up" without knowing they've picked it up.  So, they're not thinking it'd be cool to convert, they're waking up suddenly one day with uncontrollable urges and they got the spirit from someone at church.

Ugh, I don't know about that one. I can't speak for everywhere, but I know for a fact that in many of my surrounding schools, homosexuality is actually considered "cool". Why it's considered cool, I don't know, but a lot of people (mainly students) flaunt it as if it's the equivalent of a master's degree.  :-\

Its possible that you can meet someones who you think is no harm, but as you get closer to them, they may try to turn you out, so we have to be careful, of who we let get close to us. I dont think most people become gay to be cool

Perhaps what you're witnessing is "gay pride."  That's not the same as thinking it's "cool."  That's more along the lines of developing pride in who you are... kinda like working with what you have... making lemonade out of lemons.

I can only take your word for it, since I'm not at your school, but that's my take on it.

In 'mainstream' culture it is no longer taboo to be gay.(or not like it used to be) They even have thier own Cable channel, and believe it or not, they as a group are respected more than African Americans by Politicians and other organiztions.

Hey, don't blame this mess on me.
Alls I know is if you're str8 and you convert, then you probably weren't all that str8 to begin with.  Just my take on it.

Have you guys seen the commercials telling us to be sensitive and not to discriminate towards gays, or something like?

The media is telling kids that nothing is wrong with being gay, and you know how much power they have over young people.

Depends on what you believe, if it's a spirit, then it can come upon you at any time.

If you were born like that, then you are right.

Well I was never a gay kid, but I'd suspect that the kids that are gay were already gay but now they don't feel as ashamed about it as they would have been.   A lot of people think that a person would be inclined to participate in gay behavior just because it's out there and somewhat accepted by some.  I'm not one of those people.

The Bible still teaches that it's wrong. Kids are to be taught with balance. Someone has to find a way to make being delivered the best option without bashing. Sin is man's desire to fill a LEGITIMATE need the WRONG way. These people need love and acceptance. Finding it in the same sex is wrong but bashing doesn't meet the need the right way either.

Right you are and that teaching needs to come from the parents, not the media.  The media really doesn't care who's gay or not, only where their money is coming from.  If a child is confused about his or her sexuality or if they think they are gay, they should have a good enough relationship with the parents to discuss it.

I agree, but I dont think too many young people would be comfortable telling thier parents something like that. Well I know I wouldnt

And some of their parents bash worse than people in church or lgm.  Being mean won't rid the church of this epidemic. The Bible says watch yourself lest ye also be tempted.  It didn't say be mean and cruel!  We can't conquer what we don't confront....but how we confront plays a large part in how we conquer.
