Headphones
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:08:29 PM »
I'm in need of some better headphones for my Tascam Bass Trainer.

I bought some Acoustic Research Phones for $1.99 on Buy.com that were being discountinued... that's $1.99 with shipping.  Needless to say they are the best $1.99 headphones money can buy..LOL!  They are descent, but I want to get some better sounding headphones, anyone have any suggestions in the $30.00 range?

My co-worker let me listen to his Grado headphones... they were amazing, but I am not willing to pay that much for the phones.

I have some Sony MDR-V300s.  Great headphones and can be had for anywhere from $30-40.  I wouldn't spend any less that $40 for a nice set of headphones.

I got these Sony.

Looking at the frequency response on these looks like they can get down.

Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

These are the one's I rock, I copped them of of MF about 1 year ago.

Audio Technica ATH-M45 Studio Headphones were designed specifically for professional studio monitoring, with a flat, extended frequency response. Superior components provide very high SPL capability while maintaining clean, precise reproduction of sound

Thanks for the responses guys, I will look into the suggestions, I also figured the problem with my headphones, they have a short in the wire.  Sometimes they sound great, at other times they sound horrible, I sat there and held the wire and got the good sound again, once i let go, the sound went south...

i seem to get good bottom out of them even with increased volume. better than some of the $40 and $50 pairs. The best i found so far, but havent tried too many. the thing i hate about headphones is that you cant try them before you buy them. so its the worst if you reviews, read the package, get salesperson feedback and spend the dough and u dont get what you want. do too much of that and you can go broke very quickly, epecially if buying the more expensive ones.

AKG makes some nice phones in the price range as well.

I really don't like over the ear headphones. I use in-ear because I can get all the low end I want.

I've heard good things about AKG sets, haven't tried them though.
