CAN YOU EXPLANE WHY SHE SAID NO?

BECAUSE I CAN AGREE IN THE FAVOR OF NO & YES!!!!
I AM 16 YEARS OLD AND I PLAY THE KEYBOARD AT MY LOCAL CHURCH AND I SAY TEENAGERS SOULD GET MORE ACTIVE IN THE LOCAL CHURCH. AND SOULD NOT BE DISCRIMINATED BECAUSE OF THERE AGE.

SECOND I SAY, BEING THE MUSICIAN FOR A LOCAL CHURCH IS A LOT OF WORK, AND IS A BIG RESPONSIBILITY. AND WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG AND IN SCHOOL YOU HAVE TO WORK VERY HARD TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR SCHOLL STUDY, AND WITH THE DEMAND FOR THE MUSIC FOR THE CHOIR OR PRAISE & WORSHIP TEAMIN YOUR CHOIR.

WITH ME I STAY UP TO 12 IN THE MORNNING STUDYING MUSIC FOR OUR PRAISE & WORSHIP TEAM.

SO I CAN SAY YES THEN I CAN SAY NO! IF YOUR NOT READY FOR THAT RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!!!!

Well, to answer your question, I am exactly that. I am the only organist/pianist at my church and I am 15. I think it's a good idea cuz it'll teach you how good you really are, you will learn new songs, you'll figure out your style of play cuz U have to play all kinds of songs. I've had to play everything from Sunday School to service, meetings, even funerals for 4 years and I love it. If I can convince you and her holla at me!

I started playing for a church when I was 15.  I am now 18.  It all depends on the person.  If being a musician is something that you love then yes, because if you love being a musician so much you will do whatever you have to do to keep your studies up and also take care of all activities at the church.  I believe that its time for young people to stand up and do the work of God.  I am glad that there are young people out there who wants to use their gift to uplift the name of God.  So yes, I believe you have a right as everyone else to play for your church.  Stay encouraged and blessed.

God Bless

I started playing at the age of nine. I didn't start playing at church until i was ten. I am fifteen now and i can truly say that playing for your church at a young age helps develop your playing skills and sharpens you to be a good musician. so there is nothing wrong with you playing for your church.

I started out about a year and a half ago i kinda didn't know much about the keyboard and stuff but threw the website and my musican i learnd some stuff but when he left i had to take the role of musica minister and i am 18 still in school you just have to have a personal relationship with christ don't let anyone stop you from what you love to do. In you mind the devil is going to tell you, you can do it. You will really question yourself but surround youself with postive people the will push you get a a relationship with you pastor becuase my pastor help me out a lot he encourge me and so did the church. Majority of the of the time the church seeing one of it's own build in the church they won't knock you down unless they're jealous. But just pray, fast and ask God to show you new things and it will work out for the best.

I'm 18 and turning 19 this year. I started as the lead musician at my church at age 17. It was a strange event. Yes I do feel like my church treats me like I'm a 35 year old musican but being a musician at 18 is not really bad. It's just the tempers, hatred, and other things that's not really enjoyable.

I second what lilman said. My brother has been the drummer of our church since It started five years ago, and he is only 18 now. I also started as the keyboard player for the first two years and still sub in for my uncle when he has military training to go to. GOD can use a five-year-old if he wants to, and is capable of giving any young man the talent to do so. After a family friend came and my uncle joined teh church, I became the congo player, and me and my brother have grown so much in the percussion area. I only wish that my father would encourage me on the keyboard the way he did before the older, more experienced keyboard players showed up because I would have rathered to have grown that much on the keyboard.

I started plating in church when I was 15, now I am 19 on the keys, my guy is 16 on the bass, his brother 14 on keys, his cousin 17 on the drums, IF YOU CAN PLAY WHY NOT IN CHURCH? Most young musicians I know can KILL grown men three times their age!

It's better for the young people to be in church rather than being on the street foolin' around.

I'm 19.

I believe that teens (counts me) should definitely get involved in church. I noticed that alot of boys enjoy playing the drums. If that something that draws them let them do it.

I think the bible tells us that whatsoever we find our hands to do that is good do it.

We have a young man at church who is 14 now. He has been playing drums since 4 and is BAAAADD!!! He has now ADDED keys and piano and can TEAR UP A SERVICE.
I have been watching him since we joined, and know that the Holy Ghost is truly acting in his life. At 4 years old, he was weeping before the Lord on his instruments!!!! Tears streaming, snot  and sticks flyin....WHEW!!!!!  He now is mentoring his younger brother and another kid on drums. We need to encourage our youth if they have a desire. Test all things, give them a minute on an insturment see if they have aptitude, if so great, if not steer them toward finding something they can be involved in but DONT EVER leave them hanging!!!

I wouldnt call myself an O.G. (35) but i been doin this for a minit, and yes, teens should most definitely be used. They can be a beacon to other teens.

However. Obey moms and pops. If they say no, follow what they say. God is a God of order, and respects authority.

Ephesians 6 KJV
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

He will honor your obedience to your parents.

In the meanwhile, continue to pray. ask moms whats up. perhaps she sees something you dont.

I believe that it is great to have young people working in that capacity. I am sixteen and I am the keboardist at my church, our drummer is fourthteen saxaphone player is eighteen and the organist just turned eighteen today so I think it is wonderful to have young musicians.

Just pray and ask God for direction. If it is His will, He will make a way for you to work things out with your mom and for you to serve in another ministry. He did it for me! Let me tell you this story. I had been raised COGIC for 16 wonderful years. Since the time I was 4 years old I began to become active in the youth department. God saved me at the age of 9. I received the Holy Ghost at 14. One day, about 2 and 1/2 years ago,she asked me to go to church with her and I did. When I went there I made instant lifetime friendships with now my boyfriend, and my 2 spiritual sisters. I loved it so much that I continued to attend but then I stopped and went to back to my home church for 1 year. in 2005 i went back for a visit in September. and a person had asked me where I had been and I said that i was at my home church. He said why not make this your home? I mean last year you attended here for a little while then you left. but its not by accident that you came here tonight." those words stuck with me. I again started attending the church and I started getting attached to it. Then one night I asked a friend what would you do if you went to one church and been there but you went to another church and you feel that you are at home. She said "pray and ask God for direction, ask Him if this is where He wants you to be. ask Him if He were looking for you, where would He want you to be." That very night I went home and I prayed and told God " you know my heart, but I want to know where you want me to be, show me where my destiny is, show me where i'm meant to be.then i went to bed. that night i had a dream of me directing a BIG youth choir in front of a big crowd and I heard a voice say " and they shall be called Unity..for where there is unity there is strength. then i woke up. I knew right then that I had to leave my home church. I told my mom about it and she said that wherever you feel that God is telling you to do, you do it. she let me go to the church i attend today because it was God's will for me. Later on a wednesday night, the pastor told me my dream, and that night I again received the Holy Ghost and joined the church. I've been there now as a member for about 1 year and about 2 months altogether its been 3 years. now im the youths choir director, drama director and praise dance leader for about 11 months now. God has opened up new things in my life. so just ask Him to show you where you're supposed to be.
