I was over a young adult choir at my church. Really, it was a mixture of ages---16-55. I knew this choir wanted to sign more up-to-date songs that I could play. God sent me two, young, gifted, men--one played the drums like he had been playing for John P. Key for over ten years---he was only 12---the other was a 15 year old piano, keyboard, organist who could play anything he heard on a CD JUST LIKE THE CD. He didn't realize that he could play like this until I challenaged him. (He had only played for Sunday school--hymns) I used to go and pick them up for practice every Sat. morning--yes Saturday morning. People used to think they were my children--some still do!!! These then boys, now young men have grown and still love to play together every chance that get. Our church disassembled our choir--another story---but these guys still play for me and our new choir FOR FREE!!!!!
I played for adult choirs when I was in my teens--12---through college--I supported myself through high from playing the piano. It build my confidents, and helped my playing. However, I feel that depending on how young, that the teen should have some one that he/she can count on in the choir or his parent(s) should attend rehearsals to prevent people from doing them wrong--you know disrepecting, using them, etc.
Well, that's my testamony!!!!
Be Blessed and Play On!!!!!!!!!!!
