Wow.

I can't believe how totally unimpressed I was by this clip.

I know I could've kept that to myself - but nobody was saying anything, and I know it sucks to create a topic and have nobody respond.

*raises both hands, both legs, both eyebrows, my chin, the dead, funds....*

Oooh! Me!!!!!

I think most sheds are boring. If you could liken musical vocab to the alphabet...

...while their are 26 letters, many shedders can only vowels. To make matters worse, most of the musicians you grew up listening to are rearranging those same 5 or 6 vowels, in an attempt to make new words.

The pocket doesn't have to boring. Shallow musicians play a boring pocket. I think most musicians have to focus on sensationalism, 'cause they don't have anything interesting to 'say' through their instrument.

Big words can be used to say nothing; and small words, used by the right individual, can express the complex and profound.

LOL HAHAHAHAHA..........im sorry but that is so true (especially when your in college classes with no-it-alls)

I hated the clip for two reasons.

1- I've seen/heard spanky kill waaaayyyyyy harder than that.  He is musical (even though dudes be for the hate lol) and he brings a wierd approach to the game.

2- Eddie Heyward is too one-dimensional. Same stuff every time.  Remmeber the 'Changed' thread???????????????????

spanky is a dude that kills all the time,n shedds are to experiment and to learn things from people, spanky beside from calvin is killing on the gospel music scene, spanky really shows his stuff when he's really inspired to,like the shedd at saylah with chris dave booty, darell robinson, now to say the other guys on this clip were wack but they didnt poses the same star quality, now eddie ive seen him play a couple of times n dude deserves the name animal, the stuff he does stands out because its so aggressive, but still people cant hate on the way he plays because dude will always have a gig with some artist and they dont complain or anything,so why should we as musicians try to find faults in peoples playing.while you hate on eddie he's out playin killin as usual while your watching him!

idk maybe im "immature" i just dont see anything wrong with watching people do a bunch of licks. but personally its more enjoyable for instance..... a band playing shouting music and theres one drummer just gettin off then they switchout so it doesnt sound like a bunch of people clashing i like to hear sheds when people are placing the licks rather then everyone tryna out do each other then it turns into noise but this one was aight... ive seen spanky kill WAAAY harder but that foo is still one of my top favs so is eddie the guy is real humble too

LGM fam, wats da deal.

I feel the same way u guys feel, but check this out.
That shed was soo organized, and it was such an atmosphere of appreciation from brother to brother. I've never witnessed anything like that before. It wasnt about competition or anything like that at all. U know how it is, it might be that one jerk who's @ da shed wit his swagger coming at everybody's neck and really tryna be seen, lol. But it was an excellent atmosphere. HOWEVER, lol, as far as the "shed" it was only 1 or 2 keyboardists there, 1 or 2 bassists, the music really, really lacked. it was a bunch of loops and everybody was watching us. Im not the kind of drummer to pull chops out of a hat like "TAH-DAAAH! lol, i like playing with a band and i like releasing and letting the music go to different places. Another thing was the acoustics of that church were very very bad. i couldnt hear anything @ all. it was hard to get into a flow when ur trying so hard to push the music and ur calling out this and that. I cant push the music and be in a zone at the same time.....lol....so i grooved. I had alot of fun just watching Eddie crush, he's craaazy. But i have to show love and respect for Steve who put everything together. It was catered, they gave out prizes, we laughed, took pictures, it was cool. I had a good time, it just wasnt about the playing that day, i wouldve wanted it to be, but it wasnt.

That day was Crazy! There were two clinic's by Mike Johnston (the white dude in the clip and a great clinician) and Jeff Davis. After that they gave away some sticks, t-shirts, hats and a GMS set! Then we ate, chilled and had fun!
