I also found it somewhat disturbing that the article says that everyone(including the teacher) just watched.  When I was in the sixth grade and you wanted to be excused to the restroom, you had to get a pass and you had a timeframe to return.  If you didn't come back soon enough, someone would come looking for you.

Well that was like 45 years ago. Things have changed since then. :D :D

True.  Little Quontavious could be a bad ### child.  Maybe he's went and took forever to come back in the past.  But making the boy go in a lunchbox is inexcusable.

Most def. Nowadays kids ar VERY rude to the Teachers, The parents defend thier bad #$% kids and are just as rude to the teachers. And SOME SOME SOME Teachers are in it only for the money.

I think thats one of the major problem with the schools today

Exactly! Some parents just look at school as something to get the kids out the house and have the teacher not only teach them their studies, but clearly some manners! I'm glad I was brought up in the ol skool.

People shouldn't expect teachers to parent their children for them.

But, that's exactly what's happening. Parents, who to be truthful didn't want nor shouldn't be parents in the first place, just dump (yes, I said it, dump) their kids at the school's doors and don't think about them until they come home.

It can be such a mess, sometimes. :-\

Ummm my question is...I understand little buddy had to go to the bathroom ...and the teacher gave him the ultimatum of either holding it or using her lunch box....and then he used her lunch box in the class room....come on now ...he deserves to get picked on.....see back in my day if the teacher wouldn't allow me(us) to go to the bathroom...and me(us) REALLLY had to go ..we'd just walked out...because what could happen...you getting suspended????...that's a mess...I mean I understand were little buddy is coming from...but why would you stoop down to the ignorance of that "fine" teacher ::)........

I could see "cha-ching" written all on his mother's face! Watch what I tell you! She's already talking about her son has to go get mental help! For what?!

The teacher should have never allowed it to happen though.  On the flip side, I would think a 13 year old should be able to hold it.  It's not like we're talking about pre-school kids.

Indeed. And this is what we're coming back to. Good thing we're homeschooling! ;)

But you can only hold it for so long.  Even I as a grown man have had some times that I held it so long to the point that I almost let go because I couldn't hold it any more.  I just think the main issue here is Lil' Quontavious is a problem child and the teacher probably got fed up with him and she thought he wasn't for real.  Now it's gonna cost her something.

This could be true.   The teacher doesn't have much experience and I guess didn't know that you don't let problem kids get you into trouble.  There was an incident in my high school where one of the kids harrassed a teacher every day to the point where the teacher hit the student.  Then they made it seem like the kid was just a poor innocent victim.

You were good, right here. Even if <insert child's silly name, here> is a habitual abuser of bathroom privileges, you allow them to go. Give them an after school detention, if necessary. Speak with the principal about this issue. Bring in the parent and have a conference and set up a plan of action.

Asking a child to urinate in their lunch box would cause ME to lose it on said teacher, if I were the parent. >:(

This isn't a home-schooling vs. public education issue.

It's a young teacher-who-made-a-DUMB-decision-and-is-about-to-be-fired issue. Period. ::) :-\

Maybe I have bladders of steel then. I can go a couple days. Probably four.

But then I RARELY drink water. A gallon of water will last me about three to four months. Take my juice or gatorade away and I'll have a fit.

Some of them bad kids need to be punch! Right in the pancreas! That's why they feel invincible now! They think no one will do anything to them and they don't have to answer to anyone! That's why we need to conscript their butts!
