Ok,

I was just told that if in order to legally give the P&W team a copy of a song that I had to use a music subscription service and let each person download the song onto their mp3 player.  I could not make copies of the cd to give to them.  I thought that was covered under the CCLI lic.  that we pay for each year.  I know that we can record our live worship services and distribute to no more than 15% of membership.

1. I can make lead sheets and put the lyrics on powerpoint
2. I can make a special chorus book just for us if I put all of the copyright info on the bottom of each song
3. I can NOT copy sheet music.
4. I may not change the lyrics or the arrangement of a song if an arrangement exists
5. I may make up my own arrangement if there is not one available.

My church wants to be legal. I just want them to stop putting the songs on the cd without mixing them right first ;)

Seriously though, what are the rules concerning making cd's for singers to practice with? I would like to let everyone use the Rhapsody service to download music to their mp3 player and eliminate the need to even make cd's.  What do you do at your church regarding this?
