who sings/recorded this particular arrangement?
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:49:35 AM »
My home church's gospel choir sings this arrangement of Psalms 23 but they always sing it a cappella but I know I've heard the recording before but they never have.

Hopefully someone will know it....here goes

all: The lord is my shepherd....the lord is my shepherd....the lord is my shepherd and I shall not want
sop: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures
alto: he leadeth me beside still waters
all: he restoreth my soul.....he leads me in the path of righteousness for his name sake

sop: yea though I walk through the valley of shadow of death
sop & alto: yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
all: yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.......I will fear no evil...for thou art with me....the rod               and thy staff they comfort me

sop: thou preparest a table before me
alto: in the presence of mine enemies
all: thou anointest my head with oil.....my cup runneth over...my cup runneth overrrr...(invert chord)...my cup runneth over...my cup runneth over...(invert chord again)...my cup runneth over...my cup runneth overrrr

all: surely...goodness....and mercy...shall follow me...all the days...of my life....

I forget how the last line goes...but they say something like "forever...and ever...and ever...and ever....aaaaaaaa-men" or something.

You know, I know exactly which version you are talking about. I taught it to my children's choir, but I have no idea who sings it... I heard it by another choir...

I know what you're talking about too, we sung it alot at my old church in the 80's. Everytime that song was sung it brought down the house so-to-speak. The one I'm thinking of  (and no, it's not the Eddie James version that was in the late 90's) has a solo part in it. The song starts off slow, then once it gets to the "Surely" part it gets a little faster. I know it was sung acapella and also w/ music.

All I can remember off the top of my head is the ending goes...

Amen, Amen, Amen....
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

and it repeats over and over until you end the song.

I don't know who recorded it though, sorry.
