I hear what you're saying about the oaks. The ones I've tried I liked even with the stock heads on them. Last I checked, Dave Weckl is recording with his oaks now.My cymbals of choice are all Meinl Byzance:1. 13" Dark Hi Hats2. 16" Medium Thin Crash3. 18" Jazz Thin Crash4. 10" Splash5. 21" Dark Ride6. 20" Jazz Club Ride7. 18" Medium Thin Crash8. Sabian 18" or 20" Ozone (stepchild)
I wouldn't mix the Sabian in give Meinl it's just due respect (or any cymbal line IMO). For effects cymbals Meinl has the 22" China with rivets that is like a HHX china (warm and lush) with Swish Knocker sizzle (only sexier because their are only 8 rivets). As well you have the generation X Filter Chinas and this new puppy that is a back breaker The Generation X China Crash!!!!
You're on it uncle. I didn't even know that they had a cymbal like this. I have to go to their site and hear how it sounds. You really got me thinking about the oaks again man. You are really into messing up plans aren't you?
Ay, the local shop has it, and I wasn't really impressed. It sounded too stiff to me.
Ay, it was a 17 (I think)". Whatever the size was, didn't sound good.
I'm also loving that Meinl Byzance Jazz China Ride.
