Actually, this isn't about need, per se. Some of us NEED to have our suits custom made for one reason or another (mostly due to society's refusal to acknowledge everyone isn't made from a cookie-cutter mold).
As for footwear, again, style shouldn't necessitate cost, need should. A person, who has flat feet, for example, may need to purchase shoes that are more expensive due their particular ailment.
But, I WILL say that sneaker wear comes down to how often the shoe is worn versus its particular price tag.
Well... there's a perspective I hadn't considered. Very good point(s).
lol. We're all trippin. I'm sorry but do we need to pay $800 for a custom made suit? or $125 for the new Jordans? No we don't.
Jesus would be spending money like that, nore is it a good witness for someone who's not Christian.
Why can't we spend 10 on a pair of slacks and 8 on a shirt from K-Mart?
Because we're afraid what someone will say about our k-mart shirt?
Thats ashame.
Come on fam, we need to get our focus on Christ.
I wasn't going to respond to this, but... well... I have nothing better to do, so...
1. I'm not sure what thread you're reading, but with a few exceptions, there haven't been any stores named in this thread that are expensive AT ALL...
2. I agree that one might surmise that Jesus Christ wouldn't spend a whole lot of money on his clothes. However, Jonathan alluded to a point that I'd like to reiterate: sometimes, it comes down to need, or in my case, practicality.
It is impractical for me to buy clothing from K-Mart or such stores because the quality of those clothes are subpar. I would much rather pay $500 for a suit that I know will last me for as long as I can fit it, than pay $50 for a suit from some cheapy-o store, knowing that it won't fit as well, the fabric won't be as nice, and after a few wears or cleanings, the color will fade or the seams will loosen, buttons will pop off, and it will begin to bead up (little lint balls).
I happen to have an eye for quality clothing and shoes, and I can tell in a heartbeat whether clothing is made from quality fabric or not. I don't care what other people wear, but I do care what I wear. I like to put my best foot forward in EVERY situation, church, work, social settings, whatever (at home, even my loungewear is made from quality fabrics). BTJM. I'm not going to wait until I have a million bucks to
present myself like I have a million bucks.
(And for the record, I rarely pay full price for anything, I pay my tithes and offering, and I do handle my real business before spending money on clothes and things, so I'm cool).
