I was playing drums for the jazz band when I was in college and I dropped both of my sticks in the middle of a big solo break at a huge banquet.

A few weeks ago, The church called me to be the sound man at a wake/funeral. There was no organist, so I played meditative music during the wake. When The furneral was about to start I got off the organ to go back to the sound board. As I got up from the organ, I bumped into the drumset, and hit the Chimes. They were LOUD.  think I almost woke the dead lady up. And then I had to walk all the way to the back of the church. I really felt like walkin right out the back door and then sneeking around to the back of the church. I'm pretty sure one of the family members of the deceased cursed at me on my way back to the sound board.

Another time I was asked to play for the second half of the service, because the musician had to serve communion. So I figured they wouldnt need me until 11 am. So I show up late, and as I'm walking in the church, they are singing Acapella, the first song that I should have been playing for them I would have made it on time if I did not stop to get breakfast

It was the first piano recital that I ever participated in high school.  I had practiced and practiced for it and I thought I was ready to perform.  Well, I bombed big time while everybody else played their stuff perfectly.  I felt like the biggest failure, I wanted to just run out and never come back.

OMG, that first story is just hilarious, dude... HILARIOUS!!!!  :D :D :D :D :D :D

My most embarassing moment was definitely this time in Jamaica.  My pastor had to preach, and he asked me to give words and do a sermonic solo.  So, I'm up there greeting the people when I saw a big, HUGE, unidentifiable bright green bug fly in the door.  Now, everyone who knows anything about me, knows that I am terrified of bugs.  ANY kind of bugs... I have an irrational, inexplicable, illogical fear of insects.... so, I'm standing up there in front of all these people, trying not to panic... my mind is jumping all over the place... can't think of a song to sing... don't even remember what I was saying... just totally consumed by this huge, green bug... I refused to take my eye off of it for one second because I needed to make sure it didn't come near me...

Anyway, I finally fell back on my "old faithful" song "Great is thy Faithfulness".  Got really into it and started feeling the Holy Ghost... closed my eyes for just a brief second and felt a little sting on my arm... it didn't hurt, it just felt like a slight pinch or something.  I looked down, and this huge thing, a little smaller than my fist, was on my arm.

Honeyyyyy, I went to hollerin up in there, shaking, jumping, crying, slapping my arm... just going nuts... in the middle of the song!  LOL!

They told me it was a bat... but heck if I've ever seen a green bat before...  :-\

I gotta say, though, that night I was too panicked to be embarassed... but once the panic wore off...  :-[

I was in a workshop, and during the offering, the expeditor stated that he thanked God for all of the musicians and music presidents. So, he asked those people to come to the front. Of course I was one of the first ones up there out of 10. He then said, "now all of you musicians and choir presidents go in the audience and bring back $10. Don't come back until you have the money." Needless to say, I will never admit to being a musican during offering again.

I used to be an Alcolyte (alter boy) so when I first started around 6th grade, we were all sitting on the alter, and the girl next to me gave my sister some lip balm. So she asked me if I wanted some. I said yes.  I  put some on and then realized that it had glitter in it. So for the whole serice, I had glitter on my lips.

My wife and I had to do praise & worship for an appreciation service, the whole vibe in the place was really dreary & the program looked like an obituary, so what did I say, instead of refering to the program I open my mouth & say I was looking at the obituary. :o I felt so low I could have played handball against the curb :)

one of my first times preaching at my then home church. within one minute my mouth was a dry as a desert. it threw me so bad that for 5 minutes i just said the same thing over and over.

also, one of the first times i had and preaching engagement i got so nervous my stomach just exploded on me. we were coming up to the pulpit from the back door, my foot hit the stairs and i had to take off the other way to the bathroom. i barely made it. after i finished i look down at my white shirt sleeve and saw that it was stained. i spent 5 minutes scrubbing and sniffing my sleeve. what was so funny no one ever knew and the pastor said i preached like a vet. if she only knew.
In Him,

Pastor Rob

The pastor at my old church needed someone to come play the Organ. Had needed it for quite some time (tol' me he was preachin' from the B3) so whe I talked to him at my Aunts funeral, I went ahead and offered to come play.
I showed up that first sunday and right before devotion my Pastor gave me the absolute grandest intro of all time!!!!!!! but I didn't know any of the songs they sang for devotion and it was well before I learned to follow devotionals.

I mean I sat right at the B3 and looked about the dumbest I've ever looked in my life.
I Love You!!!

My embarassing moment: I'm sitting up in the front of the church playing for Praise and worship, all of a sudden my keyboard bench broke, I fell backwards, my head hit the door, my skirt flew all the way up, I had a huge run in my stockings and lastly I got stuck in between the door and the discombobulated bench :D :D :D

SO EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!! :-[ :'(

Oh wow!   I don't feel so bad now.   ;D
Back in my quartet group days, we were getting ready to start the devotion and just as I went to start playing, my keyboard fell off the stand and landed right at my feet.  It's funny how when stuff like that happens, it seems like it is in slow motion.  All I could do was pick it back up and finish the song.

When i just plain don't know the song. I am not one of the regular musicians, i just fill in on Fridays and some Sundays.

As if thats not bad enough. I was once supposed to play for a birthday thanksgiving in church. I get there and i am the only musician there. OK, i start to panic; no drummer, no bassist, NOTHING. I don't know how to work the blessed MO8 and the other keyboardist has done something fancy so no sound comes out. Luckily i have brought my guitar so we can do SOMETHING. One of the men decides to back me up on drums, he is not a drummer but can beat around. I say ooooookay  :-\ :-\. We start playing and this dude is SO off-beat its ridiculous.

THE P&W leader does the hand wave thing to me. I'm sure someone has got it at one point, the one that says "Thank ya' brutha, you can stop playing now. We see the zeal of the Lord in you but ah thinks we can handle it ourselves. Thank ya' though, God bless ya."

This was in front of everyone and i was SO embarrassed cuz people KNOW what the hand wave thing means.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Most of the time, after praise and worship, the muscians will leave the pit and go to their seats.  On one Sunday, about a month or so ago, right after praise and worship, the drummer, bass player and other keyboardist went to their seats.  At first, I planned to stay in the pit in case pastor needed something played.  (He'll start singing out of the blue sometimes).  A few minutes pass, and no song.  I had to go to the bathroom really bad, so I left the pit.  Just as I reach the edge of the pit, pastor decides he wants to sing something, and he calls my name.  I guess he read the look on my face because he announces to the congregation that I have to go to the bathroom!  Everyone broke out in laughter, including me...Then I made a beeline to the bathroom.
