Whaddup, doe?

I was wondering what the hoopla was all about - it (the Musashi kit) has been mentioned on here several times, but after seeing it, it's just an Oak Custom with Musashi badges.

...that kit was only made for him and it's only in Japan like the Nissan Skyline. ;)

...j_kay is right...it's an Oak Custom with Musashi badges.

That new Yamaha rack is niiiiiiiice. Also notice that custom paint on the Musashi snare to match the kit.

Thats a pretty sweet finish. There is a Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau at the local GC with the same finish. I like it. but man, that RACK is on Point! Wowza.

As I have stated on LGM before there was a release of the Oak Custom with Nouvou lugs for about a year or so. Keith Carlock was in the ads playing the Oak Custom Nouvou. he also used the toms to one of those kits at the MD Fest 2005 it can be seen on the DVD.

That being said the Oak Custom came 3-4 years after Yamaha had Musashi snare were released and they share the same shell make-up of 7-plies. So to directly answer your question that is a Musashi Oak Custum Nouvou custom ordered because they took the Oak Custom Nouvou off the market (This kit Gorden is playing is a Japanese import or a custom order on endorsee priviledge). It was only available in Japan which is where Keith Carlock got introduced to and picked his up.

Yamaha is know to make kits only seen in it's Japanese market such as the Akira Jimbo Rock Custom kit which a gold lug Maple Custom in his signature irredescent white now used on his second signature snare (the current 14"x7" wood-hoop). The first Akira Jimbo snare was 13"x6" with triple flange hoops and natural color. These were used in his first and second VHS vids. They also made an Elvin Jones Custom kit which was a 6-piece with 18" kick in gold sparkle like his snare.
A lessor known series that was available in the United States was the Maple Custom Vintage which was a 4-ply with reinforcement hoops like the Steve Jordan snare (only not all organic) (...or the 4-ply Masters series Dennis plays) with a wrap finish. The vintage was in the 2003-04 catalog.

If I do go with a Yamaha drum set, it will most definitely be clothed in Embossed Silver. That's a tough looking finish.

It's been absolutely impossible for me to settle on one kit. All of the ones that I have on the table are awesome. I've come to the conclusion that I will never settle on one kit, so I'm going to continue to save my money and not worry about which one to go with until I'm ready to buy. I call this the "Shot in the Dark" approach ;).

Thats smart. I went through the whole debate process too. And when the time came to purchase a kit, I chose my Hearts First Desire and I couldn't be happier.
