different Key's

i'm relatively new at the bass guitar but i've played the stand up bass for seven years i was good at it but when i transition to bass guitar i realize  i'm horrible when telling what key i'm in so i was hoping someone can help me out please

Most often the first note you hear/play and/or the last note you hear/play is the key of the song.  Listen for it, try humming it, then try to play it.  Good luck.
