The whole Quality vs. Quantity conflict will always be present amoungst musicians. I think the results are different for everybody. One guy would rather a longer practice time. Someone else will want a shorter slot with more of a game plan on how to use that time. In either instance, we know that practice makes perfect. The question is, "What are we practicing"?
...but you see, that's the thing that the writer talks about. Practice doesn't make Perfect. "Perfect Practice" makes "Perfect". There are a bunch of cats that are constantly practicing things wrong for a large quantity of hours. Now all they are doing is improving their mess. lol
...if I remember correctly, I think it was Tommy Igoe that states that you get "0" points for playing things badly. lol
...on the other hand, we should have some goals set and a game plan before we step into the practice room. That way we're not blowing time or practicing things we already do well. That's why we don't get better or see improvement. (Yes, myself is mos def included)
...I'm telling you, get the Mag....read the article and lets discuss this thang for real.
