CONGRENGATIONAL SONGS
« on: May 18, 2008, 03:31:44 PM »
I like to know your approach on these type songs. The muting the strings, with a bouncy type fill,is what i use. With the Uriah bounce,he explain this very well, but man i CAN NOT get it.Those who is a pemium memeber, know what i am talking about.Man,it is too funky. What do you do with these type song,to spice it up.
                VICTORY IS MINES
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE
                GOD IS A GOOD GOD
                THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINES
                PLENTY MORE

ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU PLAY ORGAN OR KEYS AND THE FLAVOR (STYLE).
YOU CAN IT MELLO IT OUT ON THE ORGAN BY CHORDING IT INSTEAD BOUNCIN OVER EXCERPTIN YA SELF IF YA NOT STRONG YET. AND FOOTPEDALIN IT BETWEEN 1 & 5 ,THEN TO 4TH & 1 TONE REPEATLY AND STILL GET THE CHURCHY FLAVOR THAT IS WHAT YA LOOKIN FOR CONSIDERIN THE SONGS POSTED COGIC/PENTACOST STYLE.
IF, IT AIN'T IN THE WORD, IT'S NOT OF GOD!

...uhhhhh....whats wrong wit da bownce?......just kidding!....there are so many ways to play the same song....Thats just my way.....I remember playing at a church and they sang the song really straight....no bounce to it....I was soooooooooooooooo lost!......so it just goes to show you that I am not good for everything!....just some things!

first how many pieces in your band? are you trying to play them in a traditional style
are  you made be trying to update the music to these songs with a contempary feel.i guess since this is the guitar forum you play the guitar. with the guitar until you feel comfortable with the songs just play a I-IV-V progression with a consistant rythmn the more you feel  the song then you can add in some riffs, lead, other guitar tricks, and turn arounds make sure the person on bass just gives you a solid bassline.and the drummer has to be right there with you guys.with these songs i think its about the rythmn because congrengational songs are ment to flow.
