Just to clarify, I don't necessarily believe that our gas prices will reach $10 in the near future. BUT, I'm not naive enough to believe it
can't happen. It can. If you had told me in 2001 (when I paid $0.89/gal) that gas would spike to $6.00/gal after a huge hurricane hit in 2005, I wouldn't believe that either.

Anyway, I was just really curious as to what on earth I would do. It's not unusual for me to have to fill up twice a week. Filling up could cost as much as $180, depending on the tank size. Filling up twice could cost $360 -- or $1440, which is more than a lot of people spend on their mortgage (or rent) each month.
So, I wondered what would I do. Chances are, even public transportation would be ridiculously expensive, but it'd probably be a lot cheaper than driving. So, I'd probably take the train/bus a lot more often. I'd restrict my church attendance to once a week. I'd definitely organize my errands better. Probably wouldn't take any road trips for a while. And I'd cut back any client visits significantly. And I'd try to work from home 3-4 days a week. I'd also cut out a lot of shopping and entertainment, since everything else will be more expensive as a result of higher transportation and shipping costs.
