Let me tweak your suggestion just a wee little bit.....If you live in a community that has its electricity supplied through nuclear power generation, your cost per kilowatt hour will be significantly cheaper than coal power generation or hydro power generation and it will be waaaaay cleaner than coal power generation.

So as more of the electric grid gets supplied from nuclear, the cost and ability to power privately owned electric vehicles will improve.

Thanks Mr. Thumb! :D

What about a "super generator or alternator" on board to increase the amount of charge(ing rate) to increase range? Sort of like the way a tranny is geared ;higher the number=>greater reduction=>pulling power. If you had a gen/alt that say put out X more juice than consumed theoretically at any given time ;why should it come down to the battery being the limiting factor?
I used to have a 4 wheeler, that was geared 6:1(1st),3:1(2),2:1(3),1:1(4) with a 3:5 axle-talk about Pull power!!So,when you sell this to GM mal-remember me-I'll tell you where to send my dividend checks!.......

Sorry Doc, somebody already beat you to the punch....

Every 2-motor hybrid has motors that when  reversed act as generators.  Also, the system that will power the upcoming e-Assist equipped Buick LaCrosse centers around a "super alternator / generator".  There's still basic laws of physics that dictate that they will only be so efficient, then you have to look elsewhere for fuel economy improvements.
