Thats what I was tryin to say.
I have a feeling most God Parents dont know about that clause
I think a lot of ghetto or perhaps uneducated godparents probably don't realize that (but then again, the parents might not, either).

I've seen a lot of cases where it seems apparent that neither the parent nor the godparent understands the charge of a godparent.
I know my godchildren's parents remind me often that if something happens to them, I will have to raise their two
headach, uhhhh.... children.

One might have some legal issues with this if another family member gets involved.
Only if the parents don't leave express instructions. In my case, even without express instructions, there would never be a problem.
I agree.
I think people have gotten away from the responisbility godparenting carries. Some folk have more godkids then they would ever be able to handle. Some do it because the kid was so cute. I know of a 12 year old and 14 year old who became godparents.
I have two sets of godkids. One, I set we were ready to take in when their parents fell on hard times. The other set of 3, we were also ready to take in when the mother had surgery and was unsure of her outcome. God parenting carries a tremendous responsibilty and shouldn't be taken lightly. We spend time with our god kids. We have a relationship with them and so does our kids. If anything were to happen to the parents, we have be designated as thier caregivers. Knowing this keeps me praying for the parents. LOL!
I've seen that, too SisterT! It's just ridiculous! Teenagers becoming godparents. People having 10, 12, 14 godchildren... And why does everyone want the pastor to be their child's godparent? LOL! I guess that's a whole new rant.
Anyway, I take my responsibilities very seriously as well. I love my godchildren, and I pray for them, I spend a lot of time with them (sometimes more than I would like to... lol), and their parents know I have their back should they fall short in any area at all.
What do you think about parents who select different godparents for their children? For example, the oldest child has one set, the middle child has another set, and the youngest has a different set. If the parents die, the children are then scattered about... I never understood that.
