...what's the point to this thread??

...next time you drive by a "Garage Sale"....make sure you stop because you never know what people are selling.  Who knows....you may be the one who finds that missing "Tony Williams" snare drum from the 60's that everyone is looking for.  ;)

...at the same time, these drums have major history behind them and will be a great addition to anyone's collection of snares.  For the DW Lovers....

The picture of the Ludwig Black Beauty from the 1920's looks very  similar to one i've seen in a very highend, and exclusive vintage drum shop here in NYC. The owner's name escapes my right now but he mentioned that this particular snare was made from 1928 to 1929. Price tag was (get this!!!) 22,000.00. wow

I have an old Slingerland snare(aluminium shell) that was given to me about 26 years ago.  Even has the twine string to hold the strainer.  I use it as a spare/auxilary snare.  That snare has been good to me.  It records very well and has held up all of these years.  No telling what it's could be worth.  I almost sold it, then I got a subliminal kick in the rear.   Maybe I'll post a pic one day.
