Friend of mine wants to hook an a100 to a 122;anybody know if he can use internal speakers with slow/fast or by self? does this  combination sound good? Have played B3 with a 122 and tone cabinet, but i think the tone cabinet shut off on one speed

with that setup you have 2 switches echo/main to switch between the organ and leslie or both and the leslie switch for fast and slow.

All he has to do is call his tech, and he'll get him the correct kit and switches.

I dont like the sound of both the leslie and the internals at the same time, but I do like having the option of the straight sound of the internal

I heard that 147s are more apropriate with A100s, but I'm sure atech could makke anythig work ?/?

I absolutely hate the sound of the intermal speakers with or without the Leslie.  They really don't make a kit for my situation (since I'm using a Leslie 760) but they have kits for use with a 122 no problem.  I disabled the internal speakers by removing the tubes from the built in amp.  Good riddens.  :D

I had to do some research before contributing to this thread. It looks like all you would need is a Hamptone H122SK2 tremolo/echo kit or a Hammond-Suzuki 6122 kit. BBorgan sells the H122SK2 for $300. I just installed one in my CV. The kit includes half moon switches for speed switching and speaker selection (internals only/both/leslie only). When you order one, make sure to tell Bill to prewire the halfmoon switches and leslie socket (also included). www.bborgan.com

I guess about half of the price you pay is for the half moon switches.   :-\

The halfmoons are about $80 a piece. I don't think you'll find them cheaper than that anywhere. Alternatively you could try Ebay for a used one. I personally can't stand the TrekII switch or the 6122 "control center". YMMV.

What dont you like about it?

The only thing I dont like about it that I sometimes hit the cancel button if I'm not careful. Never happend in service though.

And is it just me or does every half moon switch seem to be missing the knob on the switch?

For me, it's the fact that you can just reach over and you know where it is.  I haven't encountered a missing knob yet.  I bought a halfmoon for my A100 and the knob didn't want to stay on.  I just bent the metal pieces inside and it stayed on just fine after that.

I have to go with the half moon camp, also, but that's due to tradition.  One day, when I have the option, I'm going to retrain myself on a foot switch attached to the expression pedal.  It makes much more sense because there are many times when I like to switch and I have to take my left hand off whatever I'm playing to do it.

Or, to combine the best of both worlds, I'd position the half moon closer to the middle of the keyboard so I can flick it with my wrist or thumb.

I've heard of people doing that before.  :)

I bought a halfmoon for my A100 and the knob didn't want to stay on.  I just bent the metal pieces inside and it stayed on just fine after that.

I ran into the same problem. The knob for my MEE switch was fine but the one for my C/T switch would not stay on. The metal piece that fits inside would not say in the knob. An even more effective fix I came up with was using super glue to keep the metal piece in the knob and then more super glue to keep the knob attached to the switch assembly. I can flip that switch to my heart's desire and the knob won't budge.

as a tech that has been working on hammond for over 25 years the trek II switch will out last all the other switches but so many people are use to the halfmoon.
