ok lGMers
here we are on part three of this journey through classical left hand land

if you havent read the previous parts one and two do so now
because I will be dispensing from a lot of explanations

we now will be looking at some straight ahead one four five and one two five progressions

the last two progressions substitute the Vii for the V7 chord
so pay attention to that
these progressions
will work on songs like lord I lift your name on high

bless the lord with me
amazing grace
what a friend we have in jesus

etc

truth be told most songs can be played using only one four and five

the practice methods for these progressions are the same as for the rest

dig in and have fun

first up we have the 1 2 5 progression

C/GCE
D/FAD
G/FBD
C/EGC

next up is an inversion of the 2 chord
notice how this chord leads smoothly into the v chord almost as if it was a passing chord

C/GCE
F/FAD
G/FGB

next are two 1 4 5 progressions

C/CEG
F/ACF
G/GBF
C/GCE

C/CEG
F/CFA
G/BDG
C/CEG

this final cadence substitutes the Vii chord for the V7 chord

C/CEG
F/CFA
D/DFB
C/EGC

try this minor version
C/CEbG
F/CFA
GD/DFB
C/EbGC

with all of the chords learned so far in parts one and two

if you put them together with parts three

I know you can harmonize many many many hymns

when you see a chord stay on the one for more than a measure
use some of the concepts from part one
where we expand the one

when you need to creae some movement in the bass use the examples from part 2

next week I will be exploring the authentic cadence which is really an nice way to end a hymn
the classic Amen after a song is over
or it can even be used as  turn around
To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

I began to thoroughly go through these moves last night after finishing my reading practice

and I find these particular moves very simple in structure

and this is what makes them so special and valuable

when you are playing live you need some go to chords that you can do without thinking about it

to achieve a specific sound
classical worship refined
these chord moves will provide it

and I was thinking I needed special moves on the the one four five
but the moves listed above will support any melody

practice these moves and put them into songs that you know you use a one four five on

you will be surprised at how these voicings sound polished

and appropriate for most hymn playing

To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

Diverse:

I really like these!  I can certainly do these without thinking to hard about them, and they sound so clear and just simply elegant.

Thanks!

well thank you lady n

you just keep on practicing these in different keys

because it is going to get deeper as we go on

this is the third intallment of about 20

and you are right what I like most about these moves

is the sophistication that is achieved with just the three notes

they were actually meant to be keyboard chords

one note in the left and three notes in the right

i got the idea that since organ can effectively duplicate
choir parts

well stay tuned i will be putting out part four tomorrow

i am just looking at what needs to go in this post

i dont want to overload the post

i want to put in the most useful voicings

and I would like to come up with a song that the chords can be used on so that we can explore how these voicings can be used
