I wednor how the mnid can doedce this mgesase I'm wntriig rhigt now.  Mybae it's sehnmtoig denfrefit tahn dndoceig a macuisl mesgsae in the scuosbnocuis.  I'd have to do more research about that.   ::)

Music can't make anybody do anything but it can influence a listener.  That's why people feel hot when they listen to some types music, empowered when you listen to others, etc.

I would say that thers is more irony than truth to it because sure, there may be some questionable messages to them, but you also can't find it unless you look for it.  But as far as it affecting someone depends on the mindset of the listener.  I own "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen, and yes it says, "I love marijuana" when ran backwards, or at least that what I got from it.  But I have never tried drugs of any kind or had any desire.  I don't even drink.  It's a choice that I made.  If a weak-minded person can be influenced that strongly by music, the immoral preacher can get that same person to send in all of their money and not pay the rent because they said it will come back because God called THAT one preacher to bless the world.

It aint the music, it's the mind that determines a person's actions.  You've seen how people have tried to say that music made them murder someone or commit a crime.  Well, the music didn't go to prison, the person that committed the crime did.  If gospel music is suppossed to influence you in a positive way, it can't do so unless you allow it to.  Some folks reject gospel music just as some reject secular music.  It is a choice, not an uncontrollable power.  I listen to all types of music, and it has had no adverse affect on me except for teaching me about what it should and should not be.  I say this coming from a producer's mindset because that is my true career pursuit.

As far as the clip that G. Craig Lewis presented, it is a blatantly deceptive presentation.  He's pretty much lying in the pulpit with the help of technology.  I can't respect that one bit.  If you're going to call yourself telling the truth, then tell the ACTUAL truth.

I'm sure that many are disagreeing with me, but that's OK.  We need to stop letting people mislead because they profess to be ministers.  There are truths, half-truths, and outright lies.  I've seen and heard it all over the years.  Don't believe the first thing you hear just because it came from a preacher.  Do you own research and find out what's really going on.

I totally agree with you!!! Those who know me know that I dont even deal with alot of secular stuff like that, but thats me. Point blank, some stuff you could listen and some stuff you shouldn't. It totally depends on you. I can understand kind of the Jay-Z thing and stuff, but there are people singing gospel thats just as bad as some people in the world!!! How do you know that you can't run a gospel song backwards and find something in the lyrics???? Have you tried.....probaly not....why??? Maybe because you trust it. There are alot of gospel artist that are full of alot of mess also, things some of you may know, and some of you may not!!! My point is, it is not limited to just secular the devil can influence you anywhere, even at your own church and you may not know it. Its all about reading the word for yourself and understanding and applying it, so you know what to do at those time where you need the word to cover you!!!!

just to clarify my stance on this and the reason i put it on. This was just a reminder to just watch your steps and wether(sp) your play or listen to secular music. Because i listen and play secular music. Just watch what you listen to and your steps!! We are brothers and sisters on this forum we look out for each other. Hypothetically, this message was the same as if your older brother came to you and said for instance, watch out for so called friends that appeal to your ego and constantly talk to you about doing something that you know is wrong. If you keep those friend around you might fall and they will not be there to help. You will be alone outta luck.!!

A simple end to this thread is this... My People Perish For a Lack Of Knowledge...
for others renew your mind...

for others... come out you def and dumb spirit....

If music were the culprit a song, a hym, a melody would not be in the heart of the believer. Satan is not a creator man is because man is made in God's image. The gift that Satan wants is that of creativity. Satan's trick is to keep man from properly using that gift of life.

We cannot walk in fear of music but we should be concerned about our ignorance in stewardship of the gift(s) God has given us. Wisdom is the stability of our times and the strength of our salvation. We have enough trouble being slackers in the music ministry dept... we turn rehearsals into practice and worship services ministry of music into auditions. We show up late and leave early. We someone better prepared/better serving is rewarded/promoted "our part" because we didn't do all that we could in excellence. We make these decisions and we will have to answer for them. Question is whats works of excellence, to God's glory will we actually have in our accounts - besides chasing conspiracies of the "world" while allowing in our houses of worship dedicated to God.

Learn Music
Learn the Gospel (and the entire Word)
Learn to properly apply these things through wise council and diligence
Study to show your selves approved... because they harvest is plenty BUT THE LABOURERS ARE FEW

Try not to become a person of success but rather a person of VALUE. - T. Harv Eker
