Help me choose an acoustic guitar
« on: June 24, 2008, 10:31:04 AM »
I'm looking for an acoustic/electric guitar with a warm and deep sound between a price range of $500-$600... Jumbo's feel a little uncomfortable for me.

The reason i'm looking for warm and deep is because I'll be doing some neo soul Gospel.

Thanks!

If you can stretch that to $800, get a Breedlove Atlas series.

I'm amazed every time I play one.

I'm very happy with my $450 Dean Exotica, though, as well, and I wouldn't have any reservations about suggestion that (It's a QSE, which is quilted maple back and sides, and a spruce top. Mahogany neck).

You can actually hear that guitar (mic'd) on any of my songs at my myspace, to give you an idea.

Other than that, maybe try to find a used Taylor, or maybe even some guy getting a divorce that needs to get rid of a nice Gibson before his wife snatches it (I'm kidding...) Craigslist is your friend lol.

Have fun hunting.

PS - some will suggest an Ovation, too  ;)

Seagull S6 or similar.

Cedar top and cherry back and sides give it a nice mellow 'woody' tone.
Great Canadian-made quality, two available neck widths (I prefer the wide for larger hands/fingers), excellent performance for the money.

For under $500, this would be my choice:

Music theory is not always music reality.

I forgot about the Seagulls, Dave. My cousin just got one, and it sounds GIGANTIC. The cedar is definitely nice, tonally, and visually.

i just ran across an Seagull MJ M6 CW mini jumbo acoustic electric guitar,   I think she's the one for me.  it is $599, and i'm looking to trade in a couple of guitars and a 15inch bass cab to reduce the price a little...
