What I meant about E which in the key of C is if you look at the the C major scale you have degrees which they call Scale degrees. which I talk to in the link below http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,57864.0.html

Which is example

C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C

C=1=Major
D=2-Minor
E=3=Minor
F=4=Minor
G=5=Minor
A=6=Minor
B=7=Diminished

with E in the key of C is a minor you can run the scale that pertain in the minor category. If you need more understanding about it read the link above it goes hand and hand. Hope this helps
