I GOTTA PROBLEM

im tryna become a musician but therez a problem...........i really dont know how 2 play........ ican play sum songz but i aint dat great........like da only thing i can do wit my rite hand iz use my pinky n thumb 2 play a whole octave n datz it i dont really kno cordz or anything. i only play random notes wit my left or i can play simple basslines n datz it.....im tired of playin diz way becuz da way i play will neva give me da opportunity 2 play 4 my church........n i really wanna do dat............i need seriouz help..........can sumbody plz tell me wat i need 2 do????????? plz

Great suggestion from Mus,have you considered lessons either from DVDs,in person,watch/hang with the band and ask them to show you?  be blessed and study hard

THANX MUS........but i just find it  a lil difficult 2 just learn from da comp......so i think ima invest in lessons.....so diz leadz me 2 ax.....i wanna play da organ more than da piano, but should i start at da piano n work my way up 2 da organ???? cuz ive realized dat there r a lot of organ playerz dat r sick on da organ but wen it comez 2 a piano dey dont sound dat great. i'd just rather b up on da organ.......my nex question iz wat kinda teacher should i get???? a classical teacher, jazz teacher, or just a straight up gospel teacher, im just not sure dat they really have gospel teacherz in music academy'z???

1) You can start on either instrument, whichever is your preference. it really doesn't matter.

2) I don't think you will be taught "gospel" music in school. You will learn music you can APPLY to gospel, but i don't think they'll be offering "Fundamentals of Hez Walker 101".

Get gospel lessons. Ask all of the local guys if they give lessons until you find someone who does.

Or you can teach yourself like I did, but it will take longer for you to get good.

da skool iz called Palomba Academy of Music n itz located on 974 e gun hill rd. u can google search it. itz not really expensive itz $20.00 per class wit a $35.00 registration fee. n u dont have 2 sign a contract so u can stop wheneva u want

But do make an effort to print some of the stuff here as you go along & enquire about from your teachers.

Also, there as some great instructional videos out there for organ as well as piano from Wheatworks, Gospelmusicians & Hear & Play.

U13 is from NY, although not from the Bronx. He's pretty solid on organ.

OK so i have to ask, seeing as i have never been near a real organ. How do you play with your foot? Is there like some giant keyboard down there that you press with your foot?
